If you want a dedicated, heavy-duty solution for securing vehicles on a trailer during mountain driving, choose Bolvixor Car Tie Down; if you need a versatile all-in-one kit that handles both towing and general cargo organization, choose CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2.
• This pick is for drivers who prioritize maximum safety when hauling cars or UTVs up steep grades.
• CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2: Its biggest strength is the versatility of including a tow strap plus 32 flat bungees for organizing smaller gear in one package; its trade-off is a lower individual strap capacity compared to the Bolvixor's specialized heavy-load design. This pick is for those who need a multi-purpose toolkit for light towing, trailering, and securing miscellaneous equipment.
The Bolvixor Car Tie Down set is engineered with a singular, aggressive focus: moving heavy loads safely. When I look at the specifications, the numbers tell a story of brute force and reliability. The set includes four straps, each measuring 2 inches wide by 96 inches long. That length is substantial, giving you plenty of slack to loop around wheels, frames, or tie-down points even on larger SUVs or trucks where space is tight. But the width and length are just the beginning. The real draw here is the rated performance. In practical terms, this means the webbing itself is built to withstand forces far beyond what a standard ratchet mechanism can generate, providing a massive safety margin when you are pushing your vehicle hard.
The design details reinforce this focus on security. Each strap comes equipped with J Finger Hooks. Unlike standard S-hooks which can easily slip out if tension shifts or the vehicle settles, these J-shaped hooks offer a unique geometry that locks into place. They provide a firm grip on trailer rails and prevent accidental detachment, a critical feature when you are navigating winding mountain roads where sudden braking or sharp turns are common. The yellow webbing is not just for aesthetics; it serves as a high-visibility safety feature. When you are parking on a dark road after a day of off-roading or loading late at night, bright yellow stands out against asphalt and shadow, making your load easy to spot for other drivers.
Material science also plays a huge role here. The polyester used is described as industrial-grade, UV-resistant, and cut-resistant. This is essential for anyone who leaves their gear in a truck bed or stores it outdoors. Exposure to sun and moisture degrades cheaper materials quickly, leading to fraying or brittleness. Bolvixor addresses this with corrosion-resistant metal ratchets and smooth hooks that minimize wear and tear over time. If you are planning to use these straps repeatedly for transporting motorcycles, ATVs, or full-sized vehicles, the durability factor cannot be overstated. You are buying a tool meant to last through seasons of harsh weather and heavy abuse without losing its structural integrity.
Who should buy this? You should buy the Bolvixor set if your primary use case involves transporting actual vehicles—cars, trucks, or large machinery—on a trailer. It is particularly relevant for mountain driving, where the forces on the tie-downs increase significantly due to inclines, declines, and curves. The extra length allows for complex wrapping patterns that stabilize the load better than shorter straps. However, you should skip this product if you are looking for a quick fix for loose tarps, garden tools, or small items in the back of a pickup. This is a specialized piece of equipment. It does not come with bungees, it does not have a tow function, and it is overkill for moving a lawn mower from the garage to the shed. It is a serious tool for serious hauling.

In contrast, the CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 takes a different approach entirely. Instead of focusing on one massive capability, it aims to cover a broad spectrum of hauling needs. This bundle is a two-part system: a single 2-inch by 20-foot tow strap and a collection of 32 flat bungee straps. The inclusion of the tow strap makes this an active towing tool rather than just a securing device. This could mean pulling a small tractor, recovering a stuck UTV, or moving a compact trailer. The strap features dual-layer protective sleeves against abrasion, which is a smart design choice for friction-heavy scenarios where the strap rubs against metal or rock surfaces.
The second half of the bundle is where the value proposition really shines for the average homeowner or weekend warrior. Those 32 flat bungee straps, each 36 inches long, are a game-changer for organization. They feature oversized, self-centering steel-core hooks with protective molding. This design prevents the hooks from scratching your car paint or damaging the surfaces of your storage bins. The flat profile of the bungees is also a functional detail; it resists sliding, keeping lighter gear steady during transit. Whether you are securing a tarp over a pile of firewood, holding down a hand cart, or organizing items in the trunk of a station wagon, these bungees solve a problem that heavy-duty ratchet straps simply cannot address. They are flexible, easy to snap on and off, and perfect for non-critical loads.
The hardware on the tow strap is equally robust. The forged steel safety clip hooks are drop-forged and heat-treated, meaning they are less likely to bend or break under stress compared to cast metal alternatives. The coating adds a layer of corrosion resistance, ensuring the hooks remain functional even after exposure to rain or mud. The safety clips add an extra layer of security, ensuring the hook stays latched during the dynamic movements of towing. This combination of a strong tow strap and a massive supply of bungees creates a kit that feels complete. It suggests that CRAFTSMAN understands that users often face multiple types of problems in a single trip: they might need to tow something out of a ditch and then secure a bunch of camping gear in the back of the vehicle.
This bundle is ideal for someone who wants one purchase to handle a variety of scenarios. If you own a truck or SUV and frequently go camping, hiking, or do yard work, having a few bungees on hand is incredibly convenient. You can organize your cooler, secure a ladder, hold down a tent bag, or manage loose branches. The tow strap adds peace of mind for emergency situations or light recovery jobs. However, there are trade-offs. The tow strap is significantly shorter (20 feet) than the Bolvixor's 96-inch straps (which, while seemingly shorter individually, are sold in a 4-pack allowing for more configuration options). If you are trying to secure a fully loaded Ford F-150 or a large boat on a trailer for a long highway haul, the CRAFTSMAN tow strap alone might not be sufficient, and you would still need additional ratchet straps for stability.
• Best for Heavy Vehicle Transport: Bolvixor Car Tie Down wins hands down.
• Best for Emergency Towing: CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 is the clear winner here. The dedicated tow strap with forged steel hooks is designed for pulling, whereas Bolvixor is strictly for securing static loads.
• Best for Cargo Organization: CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 dominates. Getting 32 bungees included means you can organize almost anything from tarps to luggage without needing separate purchases.
• Best for Long-Distance Mountain Driving: Bolvixor Car Tie Down is superior. The longer 96-inch straps allow for more secure wrapping techniques around wheels and frames, which is critical when climbing steep gradients.
• Best Value for Versatility: CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 offers more utility per dollar because it covers two distinct categories: towing and cargo securing.
• Best Durability for Harsh Elements: Both use weather-resistant polyester, but Bolvixor's emphasis on UV and cut resistance for heavy-duty applications gives it a slight edge for prolonged outdoor exposure.
• Best Hook Security: Bolvixor's J Finger Hooks offer a more locked-in feel for heavy loads, while CRAFTSMAN's safety clip hooks are excellent for towing but slightly less rigid for permanent securing.
• Best for Small Gear and Trailers: CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 is unbeatable for securing tarps, dollies, and trunk cargo thanks to the sheer volume of bungees provided.
After weighing the specifications and analyzing the intended use cases, I would personally buy the Bolvixor Car Tie Down if my priority was securing a vehicle for a mountain drive. The reason is simple: safety margins matter most when gravity is working against you. While the CRAFTSMAN bundle is a fantastic kit for general utility, it is a compromise between two functions. For the specific task of hauling a car up a mountain, I prefer a tool that is optimized for that single job rather than one that tries to do everything. I recommend the Bolvixor for anyone who treats their vehicle transport seriously.
No, the Bolvixor Car Tie Down is designed strictly for securing a stationary vehicle on a trailer. It lacks the reinforced construction and specific hook design required for active towing. You should use a dedicated tow strap like the one included in the CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 for that purpose.
The Bolvixor straps are 96 inches (8 feet) long, offering significant flexibility for wrapping around tires and frames. The CRAFTSMAN tow strap is 20 feet long, which is much longer but only comes as a single unit, whereas Bolvixor provides four straps for a total of 32 feet of strapping material.
The flat bungees in the CRAFTSMAN Bundle 2 are designed for lighter gear, such as tarps, hand carts, and trunk items. They are not rated for heavy machinery or vehicles. For heavy loads, you must rely on the tow strap or purchase separate heavy-duty ratchet straps.
The Bolvixor set features corrosion-resistant metal ratchets and smooth J Finger Hooks, making them resistant to rust and wear. The CRAFTSMAN hooks are also coated and heat-treated for strength and corrosion resistance, so both brands perform well in wet conditions.
