The beach/pool score favors clear, rainless days with perceived temperatures between 75F and 90F. Based on this score, the best time of year to visit Bologna for hot-weather activities is from late June to late August, with a peak score in the third week of July.

All other weather data, including cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and solar flux, come from NASA's MERRA-2 Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis . This reanalysis combines a variety of wide-area measurements in a state-of-the-art global meteorological model to reconstruct the hourly history of weather throughout the world on a 50-kilometer grid.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Bologna, one of the most important cities in Italy is located in the center of the country, lying right above Florence and below Venice. The weather in Bologna is a humid temperate climate where summers are hot and damp while winters are cold and chilly. The best time to visit Bologna is during spring and autumn when the weather is not too old from the winter and neither is it too hot from the summer, with pleasant wind at all times, making it the perfect time to see this beautiful city. Browse through our list of the seasons in Bologna, to choose the right time for your vacation to this wonderful city.

The spring season is cold and reels from the cold winter; however from mid April onwards, temperatures start to rise. The city sees an average low temperature of 15C (59F) during the night time and an average high of 22C (72F) during the day. In March, weather is unpredictable and there are some cold days and some warmer, but not significantly. However, from April onwards it starts to get warmer and finally in May spring fully sets in bringing an array of vibrant flowers in nature and cool winds and all of this makes spring one of the best times to visit the city of Bologna.

Autumn is another great season to visit the city of Bologna due to the pleasant weather that it experiences. The humid heat of summer starts to rest a bit with the onset of autumn and by mid September, temperatures start to fall to 28C (82F) in the day to 18C (64F) in the night, gradually getting ready for the cold winter. Autumn is the rainiest season of the year with rains starting mid October or November. The first few months of autumn are a good time to visit as it is quite pleasant and the heat is bearable. This season brings beautiful colours in nature and looks absolutely picturesque.

"We'll miss her enthusiasm and passion for weather," WPXI vice president Ray Carter said. "Julie and I have had many conversations about her future. Both of us are confident she will be able to find the right fit that allows her to do what she loves while working a schedule that benefits her family."

Bologna's broadcasting career began in Ambridge with WMBA-AM. The Penn State University graduate began forecasting weather for WPXI in 1999, leaving in 2004 for a similar job in Dallas-Fort Worth, before returning to WPXI in 2008.

Due to its location in the Po Valley, the area is subject to steamy heat and occasional thunderstorms in the summer. Bologna is best avoided in July and August. Spring and fall are subject to heavy rains at times. The weather is fairly unpredictable and chilly November through February, but there can be periods of brilliant sun, too.

Weather data for Bologna was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

For all data based on historical data, we've averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we've looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in October (e.g., October 1, October 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

Winter in the city is almost always snowless and rainy. The weather forecasts promise temperatures between 0 and 10C, but the high humidity makes for chilly days. When planning a trip to Bologna during New Year's Eve, be sure to take the weather in consideration and pack a pair of down jackets.

Bologna during the summer months is hot and humid. Travel to Bologna during the summer is best done in early summer, when the weather in the city can be warm and pleasant. A 14 day trip in June will blow your mind like a glorious fairytale.

The best time to visit Bologna is from April to October, excluding August. August is uncomfortable because of the hot, dry weather. However, if you do visit Bologna during that time, you run the risk of ending up in a furnace, and the city is nearly deserted due to the holiday season. But for budget travellers, August is the cheapest month to visit Bologna.

As many tourists point out, magnificent Bologna has few drawbacks and one of them is the weather. Bologna's climatic conditions compared to cities in Central or Southern Italy are characterised by high humidity and abundant rainfall. Arriving in Bologna in the spring or autumn, you can witness heavy rainfalls lasting for 5 days or more. The porticos in the centre of the city are a relief for the tourists. It is said about Bologna that you can walk around the entire city centre without getting wet in the middle of the heaviest of rains.

After a year of historic drought, the flooding is yet another example of extreme weather striking Italy. Such events are becoming increasingly common in a country that is also relatively under-equipped to reckon with the often tragic consequences.

This page, recurrently updated, offers basic information to orientate oneself with respect to the various areas and attractions in the territory, starting with paths and cycle routes. Tourists and citizens are asked to observe the utmost caution and to consult the official sites of the municipalities, and those of the routes, before travelling. These indications are especially relevant in case of bad weather. For more information regarding the Metropolitan City of Bologna, please consult the official website.

In the coldest month, January, the temperatures range between50F (10C) and 34F (1C). Rainfall prevails in the winter, with coolto cold temperatures and occasional snow. November is the wettestmonth but visitors should anticipate rain in October, December,March and April as well. The best time to visit Bologna is inspring (April and May) or autumn (September) when the weather iswarm and the crowds are small.

Born inside the former city bakery that produced bread for all Bologna during World War 1st, in 2007 became Bologna's Modern Art Museum.

The permanent collection hosts modern artworks by Guttuso, Marina Abramovi, Maurizio Cattelan, etc. and since 2012 MAMBO is the location of the Bolognese painter Giorgio Morandi museum.

Tip

The bar on the ground floor is one of the best places in Bologna for aperitivo (7 pm to 10 pm). Just next to MAMBO there's Zenzero, one of my favorite restaurants in town.

Numerical modeling became a common tool in the daily practice of weather experts forecasters due to the i) increasing user demands for weather data by the costumers, ii) the growth in computer resources, iii) numerical weather prediction systems available for integration on affordable, off the shelf computers and iv) available input data (from ECMWF or NCEP) for model integrations. Beside learning the theoretical basis, since the last year. Students in their MSc or BSc Thesis Research or in Student's Research ProjectsStudent's Research Projects h have the opportunity to run numerical models and to analyze the outputs for different purposes including wind energy estimation, simulation of the dynamics of a polar low, and subtropical cyclones, analysis of the isentropic potential vorticity field, examination of coupled atmospheric dispersion models, etc. A special course in the application of numerical modeling has been held (is being announced for the upcoming semester) (is being announced for the upcoming semester) for our students in order to improve their skills on this field. Several numerical model (NRIPR ETA and WRF) systems have been adapted in the University and integrated WRF have been tested and used for the geographical region of the Carpathian Basin (NRIPR, ETA and WRF). Recently ALADIN/CHAPEAU the academic version of the ARPEGE ALADIN cy33t1 meso-scale numerical weather prediction model system (which is the operational forecasting tool of our National Weather Service) has been installed at our Institute. ALADIN is the operational forecasting model of the Hungarian Meteorological Service and developed in the framework of the international ALADIN co-operation. Our main objectives are i) the analysis of different typical weather situations, ii) fine tuning of parameterization schemes and the iii) comparison of the ALADIN/CHAPEAU and WRF model outputs based on case studies. The necessary hardware and software innovations has have been done. In the presentation the computer resources needed for the integration of both WRF and ALADIN/CHAPEAU models will be briefly described. The software developments performed for the evaluation and comparison of the different modeling systems will be demonstrated. The main objectives of the education program on the practical numerical weather modeling will be introduced, as well as its detailed thematics and the structure of the labs. 006ab0faaa
