I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at Dongguk University. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University, where I collaborated with Dr. Alan Gelfand, Dr. Erin Schliep, and Dr. Robert Schick. Before joining Duke, I completed my Ph.D. in Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University in 2023, advised by Dr. Murali Haran and Dr. John Hughes. I also received my M.A. in Applied Statistics from Yonsei University in 2018, advised by Dr. Taeyoung Park.
Methodologically, I focus on developing scalable statistical models and inference frameworks capable of handling large, heterogeneous, and dynamically evolving data. I am particularly interested in multivariate point processes, hierarchical Bayesian modeling, and neural inference methods that bridge modern machine learning with classical statistical principles. On the application side, I work with real-world problems in infectious disease monitoring, ecological and marine mammal systems, and broader environmental science, aiming to extract scientifically grounded insights that can inform policy, conservation, and public health decisions.
