Bohlokwa is a beautiful private nature reserve only 2 hours outside of Johannesburg and 1 hour from Pretoria. The Reserve is along the banks of the Wilge River on 3000 hectares of unspoilt grassland. Its spectacular wetlands are home to more than 280 species of birds and 20 species of fish. Bohlokwa is considered one of the best places to see a variety of wildlife, including Kudu, Impala, Plains Zebra, Black Wildebeest, Springbok, Sable Antelope, Warthog, and Eland. Furthermore, we are fortunate to have many nocturnal animals such as Cape Foxes, Porcupines, Brown Hyenas, Servals, Caracals, Honey Badgers, Black-backed Jackals and leopards.
Bohlokwa offers you the chance to do self-guided walks around the reserve.
You can take a drive around the 3000-hectare reserve and explore a variety of beautifully diverse ecosystems, ranging from grassland, to wetlands, and woodland.
Bohlokwa is a great reserve for bird enthusiasts. Enjoy viewing many of the 280 bird species that the reserve has to offer along the banks of the Wilge River and across the plains.
