Topical: it may cause redness or burning sensation if you have a sensitive skin or an allergy. Apply a small area first to test for possible allergic reaction. A small tip: When applying aloe vera gel as a mask, especially when its taken directly from the plant, let it stay for about 10min then remove it since it can dry out the skin. Do not forget to apply your moisturizing cream directly after removing the gel.
Oral: Abdominal cramps, diarrhea, electrolyte imbalances (low potassium levels)
Allergy to plants in the Liliaceae family
Only oral aloe is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Topical aloe may increase the absorption of steroid creams. Aloe and furosemide may increase the risk of potassium depletion.
Choose healthy thick leaves growing at the base of the plant
Cut them with a clean knife or scissors close to the stem to get the most out of the nutrients
Wash, dry the leaves and trim the prickly edges with a knife
Using a knife or your fingers, separate the interior gel from the outside of the leaf
You can put the aloe into a blender f you want it smooth.
As for the topical use, you can apply it directly on your skin or hair. You can combine aloe with other ingredients such as oil, honey, yogurt, rose water.... Usually, creams or gels from the market contains other ingredients in them.
