ABOUT BOB'S ROCKS
Young Bob is a rescue pup from a litter of 8 who was put up for adoption at NAWT(Cornwall). He came home with me aged 14 weeks, and so the training of a loopy lurcher began......The training was going well and it was time to take Bob on a road trip up to Dartmoor and start the next stage of his training....sniffing out letterboxes, the 'Boss's geeky hobby!!! ....no not the big red ones you put your post in.. Letterboxing is an outdoor hobby that combines elements of orienteering, art, and puzzle solving. Letterboxers hide small, weatherproof boxes in publicly accessible places (like parks) and distribute clues to finding the box in printed catalogues, on one of several web sites, or by word of mouth. Individual letterboxes contain a notebook and a rubber stamp, preferably hand carved or custom made. Finders make an imprint of the letterbox's stamp in their personal notebook, and leave an impression of their personal signature stamp on the letterbox's "visitors' book" or "logbook" — as proof of having found the box and letting other letterboxers know who has visited.
But oh no, the whole world was struck down by Covid and the country was put into lockdown with travel restrictions stopping all camping trips up to Dartmoor! several months past, then Christmas came and went....The Boss had cabin fever and thought it would be fun to paint a couple of rocks for people to find on their allowed daily exercise. and the rest, my friends is history lol.....Bobs rocks took off, with requests for bespoke rocks to be painted and to be put out 'to roam' in return for sponsorship money which is ALL donated to Bobs rescue centre, NAWT (Cornwall). These much needed funds are used to help them get through this crisis whilst the centre remains closed and they are unable to run their usual public charity events.
ABOUT NAWT
Each of Bob's Rocks helps to support the work of NAWT (Cornwall Branch). The National Animal Welfare Trust is one of the UK’s top animal welfare charities, operating five rehoming centres across the south of England in Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Cornwall, Essex and Hertfordshire. Bob came from the Cornwall branch and that's where he sends the donations from his rocks. The NAWT became a registered charity in 1971. The charity now cares for and rehomes around 1200 animals a year and is active in all the local communities in which it serves. NAWT has charity shops in Watford, Hayle and Woburn Sands to help further promote our work and raise funds. You can visit the charity's website is at https://www.nawt.org.uk/, or click on their logo below.
