August 28 DePaul Students
A group of DePaul University freshmen came to Bobolink Meadow to learn about nature in the city, and to do valuable work. Small teams removed invasive Goldenrod, Ragweed, invasive woody plants, collected seeds from native prairie plants, and saved a beautiful volunteer Burr Oak from being smothered by Bindweed. It was an amazing morning for wildlife in the meadow. Some snake-0-phillic students bonded with a Garter Snake, and a 2 or 3 point Buck was startled near the fence, and left quickly by the south entrance. Sorry, no picture of the Deer, but a number of reliable witnesses confirmed the sighting.
