Meccano Bat-mobile
A compact, omnidirectional RC car built from classic Meccano parts and modern mecanum wheels. The low, wide stance and over-fender arches give it a Bat-mobile vibe, while the mecanum drive lets it glide sideways, rotate in place, and trace any vector without steering.

Special Thanks to Greg Rahn from Alberta for providing Meccano parts.
Omnidirectional drive — four mecanum wheels enable forward/back, lateral strafing, and smooth diagonals.
One motor per wheel — compact TT-style gearmotors emphasize torque and precise control.
2.4 GHz radio control — simple, reliable, proportional mixing for omni maneuvers.
Tool-free battery access — the top deck lifts off to reach the battery and wiring.
Meccano-native build — every bracket and mount uses the ½″ hole grid; no permanent mods.

Chassis & bodywork
The frame is a double-deck ladder of perforated plates and angle girders. Curved yellow fenders stiffen the sides and visually wrap the wheels. Cross-bracing between decks resists torsional twist during sideways motion, and the centrally mounted battery keeps the weight balanced for clean strafes.
