Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. People with ASD may also have different ways of learning, moving, or paying attention.
Our research project aims to help children with autism spectrum disorder develop life skills (such as navigating through the traffic system, using public transportation) through augmented reality and/or virtual reality devices.
Our project is still in development phase. So far, we are very proud to present:
1) a web-end and mobile AR tour where the user can navigate through the area around BMCC,
2) a user interface design for our AR mobile app, and
3) a chatbot soon to be integrated into our mobile app that can answer user's questions about the app and test their understanding of content ("Experiences") taught in the app.
