Racial injustice is one of the biggest issues the world faces, and unfortunately the court of law is no safe haven for racial injustice. According to the United States Sentencing Commission (USSC.GOV), “Black men who commit the same crime as white men receive federal prison sentences that are, on average 20 percent longer”. Federal judges serve a life term and as any other human they can have their own biases and flaws, Judex is here to identify those biases through quantifiable data.

The inspiration for judex came from a study that a colleague made that concluded that black and brown men, on average, get longer sentences than white men. And so we set out to create a resource that could identify, and present a solution to solve, bias in the system.
