We wait for new seasons of Bluey like we wait for Christmas in my house. There's a breathless anticipation that reaches a fever pitch the closer we get to another fresh batch of bingeable, seven-minute-long episodes. And with the latest released on Wednesday on Disney+, even I was surprised by just how affected I was by one episode that left me in tears, having to explain to a five- and three-year-old why mummy is sobbing at Bluey.

Episode 32 of season three (called Onesies) is, on the surface, a look at Bingo's raucous imagination gone haywire, as Chili's estranged sister Brandy finally comes to visit after four years. She arrives with two animal onesies, a cheetah for Bingo and a zebra for Bluey. Bluey is envious of Bingo's cheetah costume but it doesn't quite fit and Bingo has taken to her cheetah persona a little too intently. The outfits unleash a wild game of hunter and hunted, but throughout, Brandy seems uncomfortable, on the verge of leaving and seemingly full of unspoken regrets.

Space, Onesies and The Show all exemplify what Bluey does best, reflecting the patchwork of personal history that makes up a family, the interwoven stories that ultimately inform who we are to our loved ones and to ourselves. The series helps give language to what often goes unspoken between us, giving both parents and kids fresh tools to understand the family dynamic. The only question left to ask is, "when is season four coming?"

Created and written by Joe Brumm and produced by the multiple Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC Studios, the new season of the breakout hit series will be split into two parts. The first features 25 seven-minute stories that will bring even more hilariously relatable everyday moments of family life to audiences everywhere. These episodes will also arrive on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year in territories around the world. The second half of Season Three will be available on these same platforms at a later date.

Before then, there are still a handful of Season 3 episodes left to air for Bluey fans around the world. While the other two past seasons were split in half, Season 3 was split into four parts, with the fourth and final batch of shorts still having been unreleased.

The beloved animated preschool show about a 6-year-old Blue Heeler dog named Bluey, her younger sister, Bingo, her mom, Chilli, and her dad, Bandit, returns for its much-anticipated third season Wednesday on Disney+.

If you have small children at home, you might just be waiting for the new season of Bluey, the Australian cartoon about a family of talking dogs named the Heelers. The series has won an International Emmy, attracted millions of viewers around the world, inspired podcasts, an upcoming theatrical adaptation and all kinds of merchandise.

They're also resourceful, especially when they're tired. In a past season, when Bluey asks if they can play a game, Bandit responds, "As long as it's one where I don't have to move any part of my body or say anything with my mouth."

The new episodes premiered on Disney+ Wednesday as part of the show's third season, which was released in its entirety in Australia last year. They feature star-studded cameos, including Lin-Manuel Miranda as a talking horse.

For the show's new season, upcoming episodes will include a mission to outer space for Jack, Rusty and Mackenzie, game day with the Heelers and Lucky's family, and a mysterious, lost toy. Bluey episodes are roughly eight minutes long, and viewers can currently stream more than 100 episodes of seasons 1 and 2 on Disney Plus.

The good news for fans here in the States is that are still 20+ new episodes of Season 3 to be released on Disney+. While the streamer hasn't announced a release date for the second half of the season just yet, new episodes will likely premiere in either the summer or fall of 2023, depending on when the season wraps in Australia.

New episodes of Bluey Season 3 will continue airing on Australia's ABC Kids channel through early June. After that, a third batch of episodes is expected to premiere, bringing the season to a total of 52 episodes.

It's unlikely fans will get any official word on a fourth season until after Season 3 has concluded. The official statement from the Bluey team in the wake of Daily Mail's cancellation rumors certainly suggests there will be more episodes full of Bandit being a super dad and Chilli being the chilliest mom on the horizon.

Since that tweet was published, more episodes were released as a continuation of season 3. These are available to watch on Disney Plus. Once this season has come to an end, which is likely to happen before the end of 2023, season 4 will be expected to launch in early 2024.

Thankfully, this one-note execution is not always the case. Cartoons intended for older children often have broader appeal, sometimes with a completely independent mature-appeal for adults. One cartoon in particular stands out from the metaphorical pack, intended for a crowd from toddlers to seniors: Bluey. The story of an Australian anthropomorphic blue heeler has leaned heavily into this in its third season, creating a show that is entertaining for children, yes, but intended for adults.

This is only considering the humor. In fact, Bluey Season 3 goes to great lengths to emphasize its lessons to parents. In "Unicourse," Bluey's mother is the target of the lesson, while little can be learned for kids. In "Chest," the lesson goes to Bandit. Even "Pass the Parcel," which is ostensibly about being okay with losing as a child is also about being welcoming to other adults' perspectives on fun and games. Though certainly present in the previous seasons, Season 3 ups the ante significantly to make the series' adult audience more the target of its lessons.

Whether you're a parent, a child with an active imagination, or simply an adult who's found themselves fascinated by the world of the Heeler family, the return of "Bluey" to Disney+ is cause for celebration. Fans have waited a full year for new episodes, after all, and Disney+ now has 10 new segments up for viewing. Those mini-episodes are comprised of the entirety of the second quarter of the show's third season.

Season 3 of "Bluey" has been carved into three hunks thus far, and the Australian Broadcasts Company gets to air and stream those segments first. To wit, the first 11 episodes of Season 3 aired there in 2021; the second in 2022; and the third began airing in June 2023. Disney+ has gotten those episodes at a staggered rate to stream them outside of Australia. Altogether, the season currently has 47 episodes overall, and 37 of those episodes are currently up on Disney+. Each mini-season has been comprised of eleven to ten segments apiece. But since Season 1 and Season 2 of the program have clocked in with 52 and 51 episodes respectively in their entirety, it's possible that there might be some "Bluey" holiday specials on the horizon once Season 3, Part C hits the streamer. There's no word as to when they will get there at press time.

The second season of multi-award winning, Queensland-made hit animation series Bluey starts on ABC Kids today with the first of 26 new episodes released every day as well as four bonus episodes available now.

Daley Pearson, co-founder of Emmy award winning Ludo Studio and executive producer of Bluey, said the release of season two this week is happening when everyone is looking at spending more time at home, with social distancing rolling out in the community. 006ab0faaa
