For tv, the Anker Soundcore P20i is my top pick because its low-latency Bluetooth 5.3 connection keeps audio perfectly synced with on-screen dialogue while offering a battery life that lasts through multiple movie marathons without needing a charge. If you prefer a fit designed specifically for active movement rather than stationary viewing, the Bose SoundSport is the runner-up due to its secure StayHear+ tips that stay put even if you get up to grab a snack.
• Anker Soundcore — best for immersive home theater sessions; pick this if you need long battery life and customizable sound profiles via an app to match your specific TV content.
• Anker Soundcore — best for users who want maximum portability and quick charging; pick this if you value a compact case with a lanyard and fast power restoration during breaks.
• Bose SoundSport — best for viewers who move around the room or exercise while watching; pick this if you require a physically secure fit that relies on passive isolation rather than electronic noise cancellation.
• Skullcandy Indy Evo in-Ear — best for versatile multi-device households; pick this if you need robust voice control and a long-lasting case that can keep up with heavy daily usage across different activities.
The Anker Soundcore P20i represents a significant step forward for casual listeners who want high-quality audio without breaking the bank. For a viewer sitting on a couch, this translates to a rich listening experience where the rumble of an explosion or the thump of a soundtrack hits harder than you might expect from such a small device. The design prioritizes comfort for extended periods, featuring an ergonomic shape that allows you to settle in for a full-length film without the fatigue often associated with in-ear monitors.
One of the most practical features for television use is the extensive customization available through the companion app. You aren't stuck with a single sound signature; instead, you can choose from 22 preset EQs to tailor the audio exactly to your preference. Whether you prefer a "BassUp" setting for blockbuster films or a flatter response for dialogue-heavy dramas, the ability to fine-tune the frequency range ensures you hear every word clearly while enjoying the accompanying music. Additionally, the inclusion of AI-enhanced call technology means that if you take a phone call mid-movie, the two built-in microphones will filter out background noise so your conversation remains clear.
The battery performance here is genuinely game-changing for binge-watchers. A single charge delivers ten hours of playtime, and the carrying case extends that total to thirty hours. This means you can watch several episodes back-to-back over multiple days before ever plugging the case into a wall outlet. If you do find yourself running low, the fast-charging capability is a lifesaver; just ten minutes of charging provides two extra hours of listening. The case itself is incredibly portable, featuring a lanyard that lets you clip it to your keys or bag, ensuring you never lose track of your power source when you leave the house. However, the trade-off is that these earbuds lack active noise cancellation, relying instead on the physical seal of the ear tip to block out ambient sound.

Who should skip this: If you live in a very noisy household where you need electronic silence to focus on dialogue, the lack of active noise cancellation might be a dealbreaker.
This second look at the Anker Soundcore lineup focuses on the same core technology but highlights how the specific implementation of Bluetooth 5.3 changes the user experience for television owners. The latest wireless standard ensures a stable transmission speed, which is critical when syncing audio with video. Unlike older connections that might stutter or lag, this version maintains a consistent link even in environments crowded with other wireless signals, keeping your lip-sync perfect throughout the entire runtime. The earbuds also feature a dedicated gaming mode accessible via the app, which further reduces latency for those who occasionally stream interactive content or play games on their smart TV.
The design philosophy here leans heavily on convenience and personalization. The touch controls allow you to manage volume and playback directly from the earbud, but the real magic happens when you dive into the app settings. You can remap these taps to suit your habits, turning a simple double-tap into a shortcut for launching a specific EQ preset or activating the "Find My Earbuds" feature. This feature is particularly useful for anyone who has ever lost a single bud under the sofa cushions; the app can make the missing earbud emit a sound to help locate it. The earbuds are lightweight and come in a compact white enclosure that fits easily into a pocket, making them ideal for moving between rooms or taking a walk while still connected to your home network.
Despite the impressive feature set, there are limitations to consider regarding the build materials. The enclosure is made of plastic, which keeps the weight down but may not feel as premium as metal alternatives found in higher-end models. Furthermore, while the earbuds are water-resistant, they are not fully waterproof, meaning you should avoid using them in heavy rain or intense sweat scenarios unless you are careful. The lack of a physical button on the earbud itself means that accidental touches could trigger functions, though the sensitivity is generally well-calibrated. For the price point, however, the combination of long battery life, robust connectivity, and deep customization offers immense value.
Who should skip this: If you prefer tactile buttons over touch controls or need a rugged build for extreme sports, this model's reliance on touch interfaces and plastic construction might not suit your needs.
The Bose SoundSport takes a completely different approach, focusing almost entirely on stability and comfort for active lifestyles. While many earbuds prioritize sound processing, these rely on the proprietary StayHear Plus tips to create a secure mechanical lock inside the ear canal. This design is exceptional for anyone who tends to fidget, gets up to stretch, or exercises while watching television. The rounded tips conform to the unique shape of your ear, providing a snug fit that resists gravity and movement better than standard silicone tips. This means you can enjoy your favorite shows without constantly adjusting your gear, knowing they will stay firmly in place.
Audio quality on the SoundSport is balanced and consistent, thanks to Bose's active EQ technology. This system automatically adjusts the sound output based on the volume level, ensuring that quiet whispers in a drama remain audible while loud explosions in an action movie don't distort. The result is a clean, detailed soundscape that feels natural rather than artificially boosted. The earbuds support both Bluetooth and NFC pairing, allowing for quick and easy connection to compatible devices with a simple tap. Voice prompts guide you through the setup process, making it straightforward to switch between your TV, phone, or tablet without confusion.
Battery life on the SoundSport is adequate for a workout session but falls short compared to the marathon-running capabilities of the Anker options. You get six hours of continuous playtime on a single charge, which is sufficient for a typical gym session or a couple of movies, but you will likely need to recharge more frequently if you use them all day. However, the trade-off is that the charging time is longer, requiring two hours to fully replenish the buds. Additionally, while the earbuds offer good sound isolation, they do not include active noise cancellation, relying solely on the physical barrier of the ear tips to dampen external noise.
Who should skip this: If you plan to listen to audio for eight or more hours straight without access to a charger, the six-hour battery limit will be a significant inconvenience compared to competitors.
The Skullcandy Indy Evo is designed for the modern user who juggles multiple tasks and devices throughout the day. With a massive 30-hour total battery life split between the buds and the case, these earbuds are built to last through long commutes, workdays, and evening entertainment sessions. The case holds 24 hours of power, while the earbuds themselves provide six hours per charge, ensuring you rarely run dry. This longevity is paired with rapid charging technology that delivers two hours of playtime from just ten minutes of charging, making it easy to squeeze in a quick power-up before heading out the door.
Sound quality is described as "Supreme," featuring a mix of powerful bass and crisp treble that handles various genres well. The earbuds are equipped with stability ear gels that help keep them secure during movement, similar to the Bose design but with a slightly different aesthetic. One standout feature is the integration of Tile technology, which allows you to track your earbuds if they go missing by downloading the Tile app and following simple instructions. This adds a layer of security for users who tend to misplace their gadgets. The controls are intuitive, allowing you to manage music, answer calls, and activate voice assistants directly from the earbud, reducing the need to reach for your phone.
Connectivity is another strong point, supporting Bluetooth 5.0 for reliable wireless transmission across iPhone, Android, and other Bluetooth devices. The earbuds also feature IP55 sweat and water resistance, making them durable enough for intense workouts or light rain. This bulk might be less desirable for someone who prefers ultra-minimalist accessories that slip easily into tight pockets. Additionally, while the voice control is convenient, some users might find the touch sensitivity requires a learning curve to master without accidental triggers.
Who should skip this: If you prioritize a slim, pocket-friendly profile above all else, the bulkier case and heavier overall weight of the Skullcandy might feel cumbersome compared to more compact alternatives.
When choosing the right option for your television setup, consider your primary viewing habits and environment. If you are primarily seated and want the longest possible uninterrupted listening experience with deep, customizable bass, the Anker Soundcore P20i stands out as the superior choice. Its Bluetooth 5.3 chip ensures minimal delay, which is essential for maintaining lip-sync accuracy, while the 30-hour battery life eliminates the anxiety of a dying charge mid-movie. On the other hand, if you are the type of person who cannot sit still, moves around the living room frequently, or wants to take your audio experience to the park, the secure fit of the Bose SoundSport or the durability of the Skullcandy Indy Evo might serve you better. Each product brings a distinct strength to the table, whether it is the app-driven customization of Anker, the physical security of Bose, or the robust tracking and battery capacity of Skullcandy.
