The Project

我們以書法和彩繪技法創作在木器上的作品，為傳統的中國書法注入繁花的繽紛色彩，同時也為經典的彩繪藝術注入漢字的深長韻味。

Through the fusion of calligraphy and tole painting techniques on wood, we infuse vibrant and spirited colours into traditional Chinese calligraphy, while adding the charm and profoundness of Chinese characters to Western decorative art.

緣起 Origin

意念源自日常可見，尤其是新年時家家戶戶張貼的揮春，張張紅紙上的語句洋溢著美好的祝願，和充滿對未來的期盼。這個項目融合風雅的中國書法和豐盛的西方彩繪，通過運用油彩繪畫於木器上的技巧，以現代方式將傳統書法與木器繪畫元素相結合，創造出層次鮮明細緻又富有動感和表現力的作品。
This project is inspired by traditional calligraphic couplets (“fai chun”), which are posted on the walls of homes and shops to celebrate Chinese New Year and other special events. Written on bright red paper, the phrases on fai chun express good wishes and optimistic hope for the future. Our works combine the elegance of Chinese calligraphy with the richness of Western decorative painting. By applying tole painting techniques on wooden objects, we endeavour to integrate traditional art of calligraphy with elements of decorative painting. The result is a series of works that are visually striking, intricate, dynamic, and expressive.

Concept 意念

The novelty of the project lies in the fusion of two distinct art forms within the realm of folk culture that the public are familiar with. It showcases the power of cross-border integration and innovation. By combining the elegance and timeless beauty of Chinese calligraphy with the vibrant colours of Western decorative painting, we create a new artistic style that blends elements of both Eastern and Western aesthetics.

Tole Painting 彩繪

Tole painting, on the other hand, presents different artistic expressions through its rich and vibrant colours and vast imaginative space. The European-originated style of decorative painting is renowned for its exquisite floral patterns and decorations, utilizing vivid or elegant colours to create splendid and lively designs with a strong classical and decorative flair.

彩繪藝術則通過豐富多彩的色彩和廣闊的想像空間，呈現出不同的藝術表達。其中源自歐洲的花卉彩繪風格，以精美的花紋和裝飾聞名，運用或鮮豔或清雅的顏色，創造出華麗而生動的圖案，具有濃厚的古典風情和裝飾性。

Its ever-changing, non-symmetrical form exudes a distinct beauty. Balancing tradition and flexibility, it showcases meticulousness without sacrificing artistic freedom.

The combination of the beauty of lines and forms of Chinese calligraphy with the colours and patterns of tole painting results in a series of unique and playful artworks.
