Bloomfield FamiLies for Sensible Safety
We are happy to update that our year, long grass roots effort to inform parents in our district about the plan to hire armed SLEO 3 guards, provide informative data in the proper context to educational leadership, promote and share safety solutions that have proven to work, and support compassionate inclusivity and mental health care for our kids has had a positive result! There is no longer any plan to hire armed guards, and the budget previously approved for guards has been reassigned.
We are also happy to report that Bloomfield was Nationally recognized for its district wide adaptation of the “Start with Hello” Sandy Hook Promise initiative started by a local group of moms, and promoted by founding members of BFFSS from the beginning of our campaign and formation. More guns equals more violence, as has been clear from all research and sad experience. We in BFFSS leadership and active membership intend to hold our District, our State and our Nation accountable for making the necessary changes to help keep our families safe.
