The embrace of a father and daughter seems so natural and necessary. It becomes complicated over time, especially if the parents separate. The daughter forever tries to recapture that temporary embrace. I photographed my great granddaughter and her father and felt compelled to paint this. I taught myself to draw and paint in my dining room which became a studio while my husband was in hospice in our family room.

You Know How I Feel
This piece, like so much of my work, was serendipity. Scraps from other projects were just waiting for the opportunity to collaborate and tell a story. What amazed me is that when years later, listening to Nina Simone's song, "Feeling Good", it seemed to synchronize with this artwork.(Inspiration and Aspiration)collage / 17 x 14 in
