My art focuses on promoting body positivity, self love, self acceptance, and becoming someone you can be proud of. My pieces usually involve a physical painting with a message tied to it. I work with both physical and digital platforms, using acrylic paint on canvases for traditional pieces as well as Procreate to create my digital art. There are so many incredible people who believe in the BLM movement and are willing to stand up to fight for it, which is the ultimate reason I decided to participate in this exhibit. The movement draws attention to the division and underlying blatant racism that our society has been forever plagued by, but also the beauty and cohesion that comes with people protesting and standing up for basic human rights. My piece represents the beauty within the black community, which is an aspect that is so often overshadowed by stereotypes and preconceived notions.
