The name of my piece is " Travel at night in the grass and reeds " , when working with the piece I decided to use charcoal and charcoal pencils on a 11x14 Bristol bored paper .When making this artwork I wanted to pay homage to the past slaves that ran away from they’re slave masters by showing the feet's they had to travel. Many Diverse environments that they had to travel throughout the way to the north for freedom it helps me realize that even when I’m going through the hardest time at the moment my past slave ancestor went through harder and tougher times that likely I wound not be able to deal with . The reason I choose to is this environment is more prevalent to the season we are going into now which is winter time. In this season it is known to be more dangerous for slave , because the environment and the slave master can kill them . That is the reason why I made this artwork , it helps me realize that what I'm going through isn't that bad.
