ABOUT US
OUR MISSION & VALUES
We are a collective of Black trans youth, and it's our mission to generate support, cultivate thriving, and sustain aliveness for our kinfolk. Our values that guide us are rooted in ancestral wisdom, youth-led innovation, and healing-centered liberation.
OUR COLLECTIVE
There are currently three parts to our kin's Collective: our Crisis Fund, our art collective, and our guaranteed-income program. Please learn more about these three facets of our work and community engagement.

Our Crisis Fund is Venmo account that's set up for quick-response requests for mutual aid. This fund is created for / by Black trans Idahoans. If our kin is in an emergency, they can use these funds to help them out of a crisis situation and into a supportive solution. In 2022, we shared over $30,000 to more than 100 Black Idahoans. Here's some data about the Black kin who received our support stipends.

Our art collective is known as BLAC (pronounced "Black"), and it stands for the Black Liberation Art Collective. This is a group of Black Idahoans who write, draw, sing, play instruments, film, paint, and more. This is a supportive entity for creatives; this group holds art events, gallery exhibitions, and community projects that center Black Idahoans. One of the most notable moments of 2022 was BLAC's show at Treefort (a large festival showcasing local and international artists). Here's a few pictures of this event.

Our guaranteed-income program is known as the BLC PWR Program (pronounced "Black Power"), and it stands for the Black Liberation Collective's "People With Resources" Program. This is our newest project, and it assures that Black trans Idahoans can get what they financially need each month to survive and reclaim thriving. This program combats poverty and its effects on Black trans people, and our 2023 cohort will provide 6 Black trans people stipends of $1,000 per month. The 2023 cohort will be the first, and we're basing our program on the GIFT Program. Here's more information about the program we're modeling BLC PWR after.

We also take pride in supporting community-based projects. For example, we've developed and sponsored Idaho's Juneteenth events. Check out this video for some highlights from last year's event:
