Blakesley cum Woodend WI

Blakesley-cum-Woodend WI are a friendly group of ladies looking for new people to join us, either as part of our committee or as a general member.

We meet once a month, either in the village or at a local place of interest. Previous meetings have included wine tasting, a birds of prey demonstration, a gift wrapping session, a workshop on how to paint and a visit to a local plant nursery.

We get involved in community activities, and provided refreshments for the Church Fete, the Easter Egg Hunt and the Open Gardens. We also catered for over a hundred party-goers at the Blakesley school fund-raising ball.

We also organise various fund raising events throughout the year, and as part of our WI Centenary activities in 2015, we organised and funded three planters which stand at the entrances to Blakesley and Woodend.

The WI were instrumental in Blakesley winning three awards at the 2016 Northamptonshire Best Village competition. We scooped Best Newcomer, Best Small Village and third Overall Best Village in Northamptonshire.

Membership costs just £39 per year. Non members are welcome to come to up to three sessions per year at a cost of £3 per session.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are complementary and we also offer wine for a small donation.

If you would like any more information about joining the WI, please e-mail BcumWWI@gmail.com

We also have a Facebook page and website.
