When writing the date informally (in numeric form), like at the top of your future journal entry about how amazing your Italian was on your first date, the format is the same as in much of Europe: day first, then month. So January 4, 2018 is written as 4/1/18. It will also help to brush up on the Italian numbers before you try to write the date.

If you ever write letters, make plans, or request appointments, this lesson will be invaluable. There are a few little formulas to memorize in Italian, but otherwise, dates are very easy to talk about.

You need to set the culture of the current thread to Italian, so it knows to parse Italian dates and not US dates, which it is currently set to. You also don't need to use ParseExact, just use Parse(). Make sure to set it back when you're done with your culturally sensitive code.

When editing sprint date in italian language. I just set the start date and sprint lasting but end date textbox is disabled (with automatic content) and shows an error, so I can't neither edit nor confirm dates.

It seems to happen only when selecting a day in months where italian and english name are different like december (dicembre) or october (ottobre).

I'm plotting some data and I need to create a number of box-plots. The different category are months, and since I need to have them displayed in order and not into alphabetical order, I transformed the date into a factor with

I did a macro to extract a date from a word document, and put in excel.I have a date picker content control in word.My locale in my PC is set to italian DD/MM/YYYY, my date picker word locale is set to Italian DD/MM/YYYY. on my date picker I see the date as e.g. 08/06/2017.Now I use:

There are two ways I get around the issue with dates (irish date format is the same as Italian). This is due to the fact that American format is MM/DD/YYYYY and sometimes when it can be either it goes back to basics. To prevent it happening I do the following (where I can)

Many of our articles have explored the intricacies behind the different paths to acquiring Italian citizenship, and the requirements which are needed to apply. This article instead will run you through the most important dates you need to know if you are looking to apply for Italian citizenship by descent or by naturalization.

On June 2, 1946 Italy became a republic and its constitution came into effect on January 1, 1948. In particular, this date is important because the constitution granted women and men equal rights. As a result, under the new constitution, Italian women could pass their Italian citizenship onto their children but only if they were born after January 1, 1948. This is why if your female ancestor gave birth to her child prior to January 1, 1948 you can only claim citizenship retroactively via a judicial proceeding and file a 1948 case as explained above. On the contrary, if there is a female ancestor in your Italian line who gave birth to her child after January 1, 1948 you can file your citizenship application at an Italian consulate or at a municipality in Italy.

With regards to women, it is worth pointing out that before April 27, 1983 all foreign women who married an Italian citizen automatically became Italian. In this sense, a woman who married an Italian citizen (or a man who could claim his right to Italian citizenship) prior to that date can apply for the recognition of her Italian citizenship and this can be done through a process which is much faster compared to a traditional jure matrimonii application. This also means that your qualifying Italian ancestor could be your mother even if she was not born in Italy. In other words, if your father who was born in Italy, became naturalized before you were born, you cannot apply for citizenship through him but you might be able to apply via your mother who was born in the US, for instance, provided that their marriage took place prior to April 27, 1983. Please note that if your parents divorced prior to that date, but after your birth, you can still claim Italian citizenship but your mother would have lost her citizenship right at the time of the divorce. On the other hand, if your parents divorced after that date your mother can apply for citizenship.

Law 91/1992 also introduced important changes in Italian citizenship law. After August 16th 1992, Italian citizens who naturalized in a foreign country no longer lost their Italian citizenship and could transmit it to their children because after that date Italy allowed dual citizenship. On the other hand, before this law was passed, the voluntary acquisition of a foreign citizenship caused the loss of Italian citizenship. Nevertheless, if you fall into this category you can indeed require Italian citizenship by establishing your residency in Italy. More information about the reacquisition of Italian citizenship can be found here.

Finally, on October 21, 2020 the Italian government passed a decree law n. 130/2020 which was converted into law n. 173/2020 on December 18, 2020. This law introduced new regulations concerning citizenship by marriage (jure matrimonii). More specifically, it set the processing time for applications for citizenship by marriage and residency (naturalization) for 24 months (2 years), but this can be extended to a maximum of 36 months (3 years) from the date of application as opposed to 48 months (4 years), which was the maximum processing time established by the previous decree law which was passed on October 4, 2018 and which was converted into law on December 1, 2018. Not only did this decree law set the maximum processing time for 48 months but it also established that citizenship by marriage would require a certified knowledge of the Italian language which is no lower than B1. Let us suppose that I have a date in an Excel cell. In my regional settings for Windows 10 I have set for my Region (Italy), a short and long format. In fact, if I go to Number Formats, I can select both to format my cell. Now, let us suppose that in the same Excel sheet I have another date that should be formatted as short or long date in English US format. If I go to Number Formats and I select for that cell the English US locale, I see only Date, not Short or Long date. Of course I need to format THAT cell, not to change the locale of my whole operating system which would affect other applications too. Any idea how to do that?

I booked a bus ticket from Siena to San Gimignano on "Siena Mobilita" website and it asked me to choose an effective date and time for my ticket. The options were 5 minutes apart, and surely a bus does not come every five minutes, but I'm having trouble viewing the bus schedule on their website. Google says there is a bus departing on that day at 9:35am, and I chose 9:00am as my effective start time. Does anyone know what this really means or how to know which "effective start time" to choose? Trying to book a bus ticket from San Gimignano to Florence for July 13, 2017 and want to make sure the ticket will be effective.

General I buy tickets at the ticket office unless there is a deep discount for purchasing on line. If there isn't then why buy on line. My interpretation is that the ticket is valid after that time on that date. The ticket probably has time period when it is valid - not like a Regionale train ticket that is valid for five hours after it is time stamped.

That sounds correct. I would still buy the tickets at a window. That is the easiest. Most ticket seller speak enough English to get by. Second, have then write a note where they want to go and the time. Show that to the ticket window. At this point do not buy any train tickets on line but remind them that IF they buy a Regionale train ticket at the window it must be validated - time stamp - in a little blue, yellow, green box near the back of the station or at the head of the platform. Watch the locals do it.
