Tasking Division MTF Omega-1
Commanding Officer Second Lieutenant Preliminary
Field Operatives
FTL Blackwood
Operative Gavel
Operative Moth
Operative Psalm
Primary Location Research Annex Theta, Site (REDACTED)
Mission Type Internal subversion counteraction and personnel termination
Clearance Level Omega-1
1. Objective
Following months of irregular data transmission patterns and the unauthorized publication of suppressed test results, Omega-1 deployed to Research Annex Theta to investigate Senior Researcher Dr. Ezra Mallin, whose behavioral logs and clearance access aligned with several recent information leaks. The leaks appeared to trace back to a biotech firm known as Frontier Pharmaceutical, a suspected front for Chaos Insurgency funding and development.
The operation directive was to determine guilt, recover any active data leaks, and enact terminal action if the subject posed a direct threat.
2. Operation Flow
0709 hours
Omega-1 entered under standard audit clearance. FTL Blackwood separated the team, assigning Gavel to logs, Moth to terminal surveillance, and Psalm to personnel interviews. Blackwood personally approached Mallin’s office with an encrypted warrant on standby.
0736 hours
Operative Moth discovered deleted transmission shells hidden in side-socket servers attached to SCP-chemical trial logs. Destination: a secure off-site server farm leased by Frontier Pharmaceutical.
0750 hours
Psalm received two statements from junior research assistants describing Mallin’s growing paranoia and odd behavior—specifically, his insistence on “backing up progress before they bury it.”
0801 hours
Blackwood confronted Mallin directly. Before a full sentence could be spoken, Mallin produced a concealed sidearm from beneath his lab coat and aimed it at Operative Psalm, who had entered moments prior with additional evidence.
0802 hours
Blackwood drew and fired once. Mallin was dead before the weapon hit the floor.
3. Aftermath and Internal Review
Subject Status
Dr. Ezra Mallin Deceased. Killed during attempted murder of operative
Data trail to Frontier Pharmaceutical Confirmed. Transfer node seized
Affected anomalies and research data Re-secured under protocol Emberlock
FTL Blackwood Cleared of misconduct. Commended for decisive response and protection of personnel
4. Commendation
Second Lieutenant Preliminary Comment
"It’s not just that Blackwood was fast. It’s that he never hesitated to put himself between someone and a bullet. That’s leadership under fire. That’s Omega-1."
Captain Justice Addendum (Filed Separately)
"There will come a day when someone else takes my chair. Let the record show that Blackwood never let the weight of the badge distort the judgment behind it."
5. Blackwood Private Log (Encrypted)
"I didn’t think. I just moved. One moment Mallin was raving about vision and futures, the next he had a weapon drawn on Psalm. No time to talk him down. Just time to act.
When it was over, I saw Psalm's hands still shaking. I think mine were too.
There’s no pride in it. Just a quiet relief that no one else had to fall that day."
Addendum
Found inside Mallin’s private lab notebook was a single torn page, folded behind layers of synthetic polymer casing:
“Progress does not care who bleeds, only who profits.”
Omega-1 archived the phrase under internal corruption markers. Frontier Pharmaceutical flagged for cross-agency monitoring. Operation closed
