Welcome to my tiny corner of the internet! I'm an intermittently passionate machine knitter who combines graphic design skills with knit technology to craft unique, warm wearables. My journey with machine knitting began in 1979 with the purchase of a Toyota Knitting machine. Within a few years, it was replaced with a Brother electronic, and this has been a cherished companion ever since.
In my studio in my wooded garden in rural ABZ, I knit small batches of hats, wristwarmers, and cowls. Each piece is carefully hand-finished, hand-washed, and dried before it reaches my customers. My signature style for jumpers and cardigans is big, loose, and oversized, perfect for a relaxed and comfortable fit. The yarn I use is sourced from a Scottish mill only forty minutes from my studio.
The Nerdy stuff
I'm eager to embrace the advancements in knitting technology that my hacked machine now allows. These days, I can create digital patterns that are read directly from a laptop, a process that eliminates punch-cards and pattern-repeat restrictions. This enables me to bring pixel/stitch designs to life without the minimal 24-stitch constraints built into the patterning models from the 1980s.
Always up for a challenge, I'm willing to consider commissions if you have an idea you'd like to see in sweater form!
