SHADOW OF YOUR SIN

Frost has etched silver on the pane

A century of winter in the grain

The air is thick. It presses the door

Waiting for a shadow to cross the floor

I see the silence out in the hall

Secrets pressed down on lath and wall

Stillness begins to shiver, It seems

you've walked into the center of my dreams

Stay old rooms The breath is coming back

Filling every hollow and now every crack

In the hush and the low and the inbetween

Waking to the stories that we have been

I feel your step I sense your song

History is heavy and the wait is long

Draw in the breath and let the light begin

I'm sleeping in the shadow of your sin

There are notes that haunt the rising stair

The ghost of music hangs in the air

A restless hum where plaster meets pine

Searching for a pulse to match mine

You linger in the doorway a presence unseen

I feel the shift, the past of what's been

The joy, the grief, the laughter long gone

Quivering in our unplayed song

Beneath the walls, beneath the dust

A heart of iron, a soul of rust

A pulse begins. The notes sound high

The story opens to you and I

Stay old rooms The breath is coming back

Filling every hollow and now every crack

In the hush and the low and the inbetween

Waking to the stories that we have been

I feel your step I sense your song

History is heavy and the wait is long

Draw in the breath and let the light begin

I'm sleeping in the shadow of your sin

A heart of iron

A soul of rust

I hear you

I hear you

Beneath the dust
