Blackie's Wake - Lullaby for Lawrence

Blackie's Wake

LULLABLY FOR LAWRENCE

Bundle of silk in a world of new light

Born from the shadows and out of the night

I hold you close as the rocking chair creaks

And the secret of ages is all that you speak

I look in your eyes and the world falls away

A familiar blue from a long-buried day

Your small little mouth and that melting little smile

I’ve waited to see you for such a long while

Sleep now my little one now you're back home

No longer a whisper no longer alone

Through plaster and dust through a hundred-year sleep

A promise of old is the one that we keep

I’ve known you forever I’ll stay by your side

With nowhere to vanish and nowhere to hide

The walls are now silent the attic is still

We’ve climbed up the stairs and we’ve conquered the chill

A deep-running river a thread through the years

I’ll be here to catch every one of your tears

Welcome back baby

The wait is now through

Across all the ages

INSPIRATION

Part of the official soundtrack collection for Between The Walls (inspired by the Lydia Rose stories).

Lullaby for Lawrence is the quiet, gentle resolution at the heart of the storm. A full-circle moment where a familiar soul finally finds its way back home. Written specifically to accompany Chapter 14, this track captures the profound emotion of holding a newborn and seeing an unmistakable glint of the past looking back at you; a familiar blue from a long-buried day.

After a hundred years of whispers, the walls finally fall silent and the chilling draft in the attic stills.
