COUNTING CHRISTMASES
Pine and holly dress aging walls
As shadows cross the wooden halls
I’m measuring life in winter glows
how the firelight comes and goes
Counting Christmases we have in store
While love sits waiting at the door
The fire centers a sacred ring
Where ancient carols are songs we sing
In every spark a story of past
Of a love so strong built to last
God showed the way through quiet birth
A sacrifice that changed the earth
Oh, feel the warmth, the meaning and the grace
In every line on a every face
The gift was never bought or sold
But in the love that never grows cold
It lives in us, a light so true
Passed from old and still shines new
Stronger than time, deeper than the sea
The love He gave is living now in me
Adorned in pine home at last
Merry Christmas eve from the past
