BREATHING DUST
Cold glass of water on a hot summer day
Adirondack chair by the edge of the bay
Deep cold blue of the rolling Great Lakes
A gift from the earth for granted we take
It flows from the Rockies, a pure mountain stream
Till they trap it in concrete to feed their machine
God's day one creation to cool their AI
‘N suits line their pockets as rivers bleed dry
For every last soul that is breathing dust
We hide in the shadows of corporate lust
'N the ghost in the wire is drinkin' too fast
‘N soon we'll be holdin' an empty broken glass
The land’s burnin’ hot no more rain from the sky
The fields are now bare we’re stealing to get by
they’re handing out paste in a dark labeled pouch
Tellin’ us to hydrate while sittin’ on the couch
For every last soul that is breathing dust
We hide in the shadows of corporate lust
'N the ghost in the wire is drinkin' too fast
‘N soon we'll be holdin' an empty broken glass
As the trillionaires toast to their growing wealth
We see the witherin’ hand that we’ve been dealt
So when it all comes down to the very last drop
Machines keep humming while human hearts
For every last soul that is breathing dust
We hide in the shadows of corporate lust
'N the ghost in the wire is drinkin' too fast
‘N soon we'll be holdin' an empty broken glass
