Beauty and Courage
This sweet book is a retelling of the Snow White story. It's really well done with beautiful illustrations, Caribbean references, and very engaging writing. I love that it celebrates the beauty of Black Onyx and shows children a lovely and courageous princess can be any color. I would definitely recommend it to young children.
Adora dreams beyond her humble life in a kingdom alive with rhythm and magic. When a mysterious Spiritual Mother offers her one enchanted night, Adora enters a world of golden shoes, royal celebrations, and a prince's admiring gaze.
This enchanting West African twist on a beloved fairy tale celebrates courage, kindness, and the magic of believing in yourself.
Perfect for young dreamers (ages 5-9) who love sparking adventures!

A magical African retelling of a time-honored favorite
I found this to be a heartfelt retelling of the classic Cinderella tale, but with a wonderful African setting that increases the sense of magic in the air. I’d recommend this for 4-9 year olds and parents who want to delight their kids with tales of courage and kindness. The artwork is colorful and engaging. The language is simple, evocative and touching, and there was a moment I got a little misty-eyed.
