Holiday season 2020, turned our US Postal System inside out. There were massive delays, a shortage of workers and lines that would have you thinking you were at the hottest nightclub in the 90's. Everyone from workers to customers were clearly overwhelmed. And yet, what I was most fascinated by was how individuals coped with their levels of stress.
Here enters Ms. Pissed Off Patty, or Ms. POP for short. As I was waiting in the never ending line to speak with a clerk, Ms. Pop chose to use the automated self-service machine. By the time I noticed her, the machine was doing what machines do. She ordered 100 festive stamps and the machine lacking that special human touch, issued her 100 non festive postage labels. Still should accomplish the same task right?
Well this completely sent Ms. Pop over the edge. She was clearly upset and began talking to the machine and the strangers behind her waiting for their turn. She repeatedly told the machine to stop, stop and noooo! She began massaging her temples and telling the people they're going to be in line forever because the machine didn't give her a choice and is printing the wrong thing. Interestingly, the lady behind her didn't share any of the negative energy. Her face remained unfazed, almost like look lady go through what you need to go through and keep it moving.
Finally Ms. Pop decides to storm off to the counter to get someone to help. The way those boots hit the floor each time she took a step meant business. She stormed off to the counter, demanded for assistance in a frenzy and went bac
