My drawings depict landscapes and belong in the Tonalism Contemporary move. In my pieces all elements are united by a monochrome natural palette, with subtle modulations of closely related values and intense charcoal strikes laying on an acrylic background. This drawing approach allows me to materialize in a dramatic way the dark and bright elements of nature and life. My work’s purpose is not only to reflect nature’s physical beauty, but also to depict it in such a way that the viewer is focused on its atmospheric effects and the hidden message I try to convey. For me the trees have a soul, and apart from their apparent form, they metaphorically represent people of different physical and mental states communicating with each other -or not- like in a real society.
