If you want a versatile, single-purpose tool for beach trips and light utility work that adds a winch loop to your setup, choose Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch; if you need a heavy-duty, multi-ball solution for towing varying trailer sizes with higher weight capacities on larger vehicles, choose Towever 84180P.
• This pick is for off-road enthusiasts who need extra versatility for yard work and beach hauling without switching parts.
• This pick is for truck owners or serious towers who handle different trailer types and need maximum weight ratings.
The Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch is engineered specifically for the unique demands of utility terrain vehicles and smaller all-terrain vehicles. This is a game-changer for anyone using their vehicle for more than just transportation. On a beach trip, where sand can swallow wheels and recovery is often necessary, having that loop built directly into the hitch means you don't need to carry separate straps or find a secure anchor point elsewhere on the frame. The design prioritizes function over raw towing power, offering a 2-inch rise on the hitch ball to ensure sufficient ground clearance. This is critical when driving over dunes, ruts, or uneven coastal terrain where dragging the bottom of a hitch would be disastrous.
The construction uses durable powder-coated steel, which speaks to its intended environment. You are likely taking this gear into salt air, mud, and rough conditions where corrosion resistance matters. It includes a 1-1/4 inch shank and a 5/8 inch pin hole, designed to fit standard receivers found on most UTVs and ATVs. If you plan to pull a large travel trailer or a heavy boat, this unit will not meet your needs. It is strictly a utility-focused accessory.
This product is ideal for the owner who views their vehicle as a mobile workshop. The ability to swap between a hitch ball for small trailers, a pin hole for yard equipment like post-hole diggers, and a high-strength loop for winching makes it incredibly efficient. It saves space in the cargo bed or storage compartments because it consolidates multiple functions into one mount. However, if you primarily haul heavy loads on highways or need to connect to various trailer types without swapping balls, this single-ball design will frustrate you. It is a specialist tool for the off-road community, perfect for beach runs, light camping setups, and property maintenance, but it is not built for heavy-duty highway towing.

The Towever 84180P tells a completely different story in terms of capability and scale. This is a robust, three-ball hitch mount designed to eliminate the guesswork of matching a trailer coupler to your vehicle. Instead of carrying three separate balls and swapping them out every time you tow something different, this unit holds 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch, and 2-5/16 inch balls simultaneously. The chrome finish suggests a focus on durability and aesthetics suitable for trucks and larger pickup vehicles. The sheer range of options here is staggering.
The design accommodates Class III and IV hitch receivers, which are standard on full-size trucks, tractors, and heavy-duty pickups. The overall length is 12 inches with a 7-1/2 inch hollow shank, providing significant leverage and stability for heavy loads. This level of capacity is unnecessary for a small UTV on a sandy beach, but it is essential for someone pulling a large fifth-wheel trailer, a horse trailer, or a construction load. The inclusion of a tow hook alongside the three balls adds a layer of redundancy for strap-based recovery or securing loads, though it does not offer the same specialized utility loop found on the Black Boar.
This product is best suited for the user who owns a truck or a large tractor and needs a "set it and forget it" solution for towing. If you frequently switch between a small utility trailer with a 1-7/8 inch coupler and a large travel trailer requiring a 2-5/16 inch coupler, this is the only logical choice. It removes the friction of changing hardware. However, the bulk and weight of this unit make it less ideal for compact UTVs where space is at a premium. The 12-inch length might interfere with rear cargo areas on smaller vehicles, and the high weight rating is overkill for light duty. It is a powerhouse designed for performance and capacity rather than the multifunctional versatility required for off-road recovery and yard work.
• Best for Beach Trips & Recovery → Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch.
• Best for Varying Trailer Sizes → Towever 84180P. Having three different ball sizes (1-7/8", 2", 2-5/16") eliminates the need to buy and store multiple separate hitch balls.
• Highest Towing Capacity → Towever 84180P.
• Best Ground Clearance Design → Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch. Specifically engineered with a 2-inch rise to prevent scraping on uneven, rocky, or sandy terrain.
• Best for Heavy-Duty Trucks → Towever 84180P. Designed for Class III/IV receivers and heavy tongue weights that UTV hitches simply cannot support.
• Most Versatile for Utility Work → Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch. The 5/8-inch pin hole allows for attaching yard equipment, adding functionality beyond simple towing.
• Compact & Lightweight → Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch.
• Durability for Highway Towing → Towever 84180P. The solid construction and chrome finish are built for sustained highway speeds and heavy loads, not just off-road bursts.
In my opinion, if you are buying this for beach trips specifically, the Black Boar UTV ATV Multi-Hitch is the superior choice. The beach environment is unpredictable; sand shifts, tides change, and vehicles get stuck. While the Towever 84180P is an incredible piece of engineering for truck owners, its massive size and lack of specialized recovery features make it overkill and potentially cumbersome for a UTV. The Black Boar’s focus on ground clearance and multi-functionality aligns perfectly with the realities of off-road and coastal use. I would choose the Black Boar for its practicality and peace of mind when the going gets tough.
It is generally too large and heavy for small ATVs; it is designed for Class III/IV receivers found on trucks and tractors with larger hitch openings.
Yes, the package includes a 1/2-inch hitch pin and a bridge pin to secure the unit in your receiver.
