BL16 SOFIA: Sample stages and Operation settings for "Solid mode" and "Liquid mode" (ver 2. as of 2023.05.29)
The sample stage has a limited dynamic range. Therefore, both solid/liquid modes need offset.
Normal stage (non-liquid mode)
The offset should be more than 8 mm => 5 mm below the sample on the normal stage.
make sure the choice of mode is non "liquid mode" (#1).
stage on the sample stage: typically only the base plate.
Stage setting: Normal (#2), SAZ offset = 0 (no change) (#3) No need to change "origin".
"height" = the offset (ex. 8mm) + sample thickness (#4)
Liquid mode
The offset should be more than 30 mm below the sample on the normal stage.
make sure the choice of mode is "liquid mode" (#1).
stage on the sample stage: typically an additional plate should be mounted above the base plate lifted by 30mm.
Stage setting: Others (#2), SAZ offset => -30 (or how much one lifted up from the base plate)(#3) "Origin" should be the same value as the one of "Normal Stage". (check the value.)
"height" = sample thickness (#4). The sample thickness should be bigger than 8mm due to the limitation of SAZ.
Default incident angles θ = 0.4º, 1.0º, 2.22º. The freedom of θ is between 0.3-1.0º. 2.22º is additional, which comes without the reflection by the liquid mirror.
Users should measure each direct beam at all θ.
theta0 => -0.30º (as of Dec.2023)
