When you register and use BJJ Network, we may collect:

• Profile Details: Belt rank, training history, academy affiliation, bio

• Coach Information (for coaches): Specializations, hourly rates, social media links, certifications

• Training Data: Training sessions, techniques logged, competition history, training notes

• Location Data: With your permission, we collect location data to find nearby gyms and training partners

• Payment Information: When making purchases, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers

• Usage Data: Features used, time spent in app, interaction patterns

• Log Data: IP address, access times, app crashes and errors

2.3 Media and Content

• Photos and Videos: Profile pictures, training videos you upload

• User-Generated Content: Comments, reviews, messages to other users

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality

• Create and manage your account

• Connect you with nearby gyms and training partners

• Enable coach-student interactions and content delivery

4. Camera & Media Access

What We Access

We access the device camera and media library to allow users to:

• Upload profile pictures

• Record and share training videos

• Capture technique demonstrations

• Add images to training logs and gym reviews

How Media is Stored

Images or videos captured using the camera are either stored locally on your device or securely uploaded to our servers using encrypted connections. Media uploaded to our servers is stored in secure cloud storage (Cloudflare) with access controls.

Your media is not shared with third parties except where required to provide core app functionality (e.g., displaying your profile picture to other users based on your privacy settings).

User Control

You can revoke camera and photo library access at any time through your device's system settings. You can also delete any uploaded media from within the app. Some features may be limited without camera or media access.

5. Microphone & Audio Access

Voice-to-Text Feature (Pro Subscription)

We access the device microphone to enable the voice-to-text feature for logging training notes. Audio recordings are:

• Processed securely to convert speech to text using OpenAI's transcription service

• Not stored permanently after transcription is complete

• Not shared with third parties except for the transcription processing

You can revoke microphone access at any time through your device settings. The voice-to-text feature will not function without microphone access.

6. Location Data

We collect location data only when you grant permission, to:

• Find nearby BJJ gyms on the map

• Locate training partners in your area

• Show relevant local events and competitions

• Enable gym check-in features

You can disable location access in your device settings at any time. Some features (like "Gyms Near Me") may be limited without location access.

7. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

Service Providers

• Cloudflare: Video hosting, content delivery, and file storage

• Stripe: Payment processing

• MongoDB: Database services

• OpenAI: Voice transcription processing

• Expo: Push notifications and app infrastructure

Other Users

• Your public profile information (name, belt rank, academy) is visible to other users

• Coach profiles are publicly visible for discovery

• Content you share publicly (videos, reviews) is visible based on your privacy settings

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)

• Secure password hashing (bcrypt)

• JWT-based authentication tokens

• Regular security audits

• Access controls and monitoring

However, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

BJJ Network is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
