For this photoshoot, we did the Luxe First Birthday Package which includes a traditional portrait set, and a cake smash set! I always let my clients pick their own theme for the portrait session and they knocked it out of the park this time with the galaxy theme and a bubble bath set!

You simply cannot have a bubble bath for your first birthday without lots & lots of rubber duckies! There were also iridescent bubbles floating in the air and our birthday boy had the biggest, sweetest tiny tooth smile!

Baby Jai is celebrating his first birthday! The birthday boy came ready for his shoot in an amazingly adorable three-piece suit and tie! He wore his sweet little suit for the traditional setup of his session, sunglasses included! And believe it or not, he actually kept the sunglasses on. We all know how long accessories usually last with babies, but Jai was a little rockstar!

I attempted this and failed. So miserably, like it was so bad. I spent thirty minutes trying to pipe roses onto the side of the cake. When I stepped back to look at the cake, it was so bad that I just took my spatula and wiped away all the swirls. Thirty-plus minutes of work all gone in less than sixty seconds.

You cannot go wrong with chocolate and vanilla, and combining them together in cake form is the best. These cakes are soft, buttery, fluffy, moist, and filled with rich chocolate and vanilla flavor. The frosting is light, not too sugary, and extra whipped, almost like a mousse.

Layers of cake, lemon curd, crushed meringues, swiss buttercream and sparklers. Boom. What more could you ask for? I've been dying to make a naked birthday cake forever - basically one that's barely frosted on the outside so you can see all those glorious layers on the inside!! And because it needs to be bright and cheerful (just like me) we threw on a bunch of pink and yellow candies and flowers PLUS some sparklers on top. In your cake recipes are you using regular butter versus unsalted? I see salt in your ingredients list and just want to make sure that I should use salted butter? Will be making your Slutty Brownie Cake tomorrow and just wanted clarification.

Hi! I think I read that you used real flowers. What did you do about the pesticides or were they organic flowers? I am baking a cake that will be topped with flowers as well but can not find edible or organic. Did you just wash them off before putting them on top of the cake?

You can frost it with a simple vanilla buttercream (there is a recipe in the notes of my sugar cookies), but you do need an electric mixer for that. So I wanted to test out a simple glaze for this cake and it worked great (ingredients in notes). We are cake lovers around here and not icing lovers so this worked really well for us. If you are a chocolate lover a simple chocolate ganache filling (see in notes) would work really well here too!

On June 14, 2022, Twitter user @lostinhist0ry tweeted a picture with the caption, "Woman cutting her birthday cake in Iran 1973, 5 years before the Islamic Revolution." We received mail from readers asking if we could find data that might confirm whether or not this was true.

Ten days after the viral tweet went up, a Facebook user reposted the same picture with the caption, "Here is an image from Iran of a woman cutting her birthday cake in 1973, 5 years before the Islamic Revolution there. Just wanted to point out how things can change when the government gets religious."

According to users who commented on the photograph, the woman's apparent happiness and the freedom to wear the clothes she's dressed in portrayed a stark contrast to the country's present-day reality.

According to the TinEye reverse image search website, one of the earliest postings of the picture of the woman appeared to be from June 24, 2018. A post in the r/OldSchoolCool subreddit on Reddit showed the caption, "Woman cutting her birthday cake in Tehran, Iran 1973."

The original source for this photo is a Pinterest board and it has a few other photos of this woman and her parents. The title of the board is "My Mother in Iran - Inspirational pictures of my mother from the 60s" and it doesn't say the posted photo is of her birthday or outside of the 60s. 2351a5e196
