How to reach the venue from Oxford city centre
Bus: Take the number 5 bus from the city centre (various stops along Magdalen Street, St Giles', and George Street). This bus goes directly to the IBME in approximately 20-30 minutes and it runs every 10-15 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the bus (contactless payment preferred), via the mobile app, or at selected retailers. The Oxford Bus Company website or their mobile app (Stagecoach Bus) provides real-time bus information, including schedules, live tracking, and fare information. Searching for the number 5 bus and its route to the IBME will give you the most up-to-date details.
Taxi: Around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Please note that Uber does not run in Oxford. The local company is 001 Taxis (also has an app for iOS and Android): https://www.001taxis.com
Driving: Driving is not recommended due to limited parking at the venue and traffic congestion in Oxford.
Cycling: Around 15 to 25 minutes, depending on location. You can check official cycling routes here.
How to reach Oxford from London Airports
The closest airport to Oxford is London Heathrow (LHR).
London Heathrow Airport (LHR): The Airline coach service offers frequent direct buses to Oxford City Centre (Gloucester Green bus station). The journey takes roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes. Taxis and ride-sharing services are also available but significantly more expensive.
London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Approximately 130 kilometers. The Oxford Bus company offers direct coach services to Oxford. Alternatively, take the Gatwick Express train to London Victoria, then a train from Victoria Station to Oxford Central Station. The total journey time is around 2-3 hours depending on connections.
London Luton Airport (LTN): Approximately 95 kilometers. The Airline coach service connects Luton Airport to Oxford. Alternatively, a bus to Luton Airport Parkway station followed by a train to Oxford is possible. The journey can take 2-3 hours depending on connections.
London Stansted Airport (STN): This airport is significantly further from Oxford and several changes (train, tube, buses) may be required.
Where to buy:
Train tickets: Online at www.trainline.co.uk or at the train station.
Airport Bus tickets: We highly recommend purchasing airport bus tickets at the helpdesk at the airport. In some cases, this is the only option. Alternatively, you can check the bus company (identified from Google Maps based on your arrival time), such as www.theairlineoxford.co.uk, and buy it online.
Local bus tickets: In-app purchases (Stagecoach bus for iOS and Android) or on the bus (contactless).
