Business, Identity, and Networks

(BINS)

About the Conference

The annual Business, Identity, and Networks (BINS) conference brings together economists who study how individuals' social, cultural, ethnic, racial, gender, national, or political identities and networks affect firm outcomes.

The fields of economics and finance have recently begun investigating how non-economic identities and networks influence business formation, transactions, growth, and survival. This conference aims to engender exchange of ideas among researchers working in this area. This exchange is especially critical given that many countries around the world are beginning to recognize the wide-ranging economic impacts of social networks, diversity, and "in-group" and "out-group" behaviors.
