Binod Pant

I am a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Mississippi State University, where I teach one course per semester (3 credit hours) and independently pursue my research interests in mathematical biology.

I earned my PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park, in May 2024 under the supervision of Dr. Abba Gumel.  From 2024 to 2026, I was a postdoc at Northeastern University.

My Erdős number is 3. My first paper gave me an Erdős number of 4, and my second paper bumped it to 3.


Research at a Glance

My research focuses on the intersection of mathematics and biology. My work involves utilizing mathematical theory, data analytics, and computational methods to gain insight into the transmission dynamics and control of emerging and re‑emerging infectious diseases of public health importance. My three major ongoing research areas are: (i) incorporating human behavior into mathematical models, (ii) structural identifiability, observability, and uncertainty quantification of epidemiological models, and (iii) using models to gain mathematical insight into the transgenic fungus's ability to control malaria mosquitoes.
