Hi! I’m TERUYOSHI OKU, owner of Freebird BMX shop, also a long-time BMX rider. My friends like to call me Bab.
I was born and raised in Hiroshima City, where I discovered my passion for BMX as ateenager. Over the years, I’ve explored countless bicycle spots across Hiroshima,
immersing myself in the vibrant local scene. In 2002, I turned my passion into a profession by opening my own store, Freebird BMX Shop.
Through cycling, I’ve connected with many fascinating people in Hiroshima. Together,
we’ve shared unforgettable moments, from thrilling rides to indulging in the city’s diverse and delicious local cuisine.
These experiences inspired me to create a unique bike tour that combines my love for bikes, my local knowledge, and my favorite things about Hiroshima. Join me on this adventure to explore the city on two wheels, hear captivating stories from a local perspective, and savor our highly recommended local dish.

About Hiroshima Okonomiyaki
For lunch, we’ll enjoy Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki—a local specialty made by spreading a
thin layer of flour dough, topping it with layers of cabbage, pork, yakisoba, and other
ingredients, then covering it with a thinly fried egg and steam-frying it to perfection. The
dish is finished with a rich, sweet sauce, and you can add mayonnaise for extra flavor if
you like. Traditionally, it’s eaten straight from the iron plate using a spatula.
The harmonious blend of textures and flavors creates a truly unforgettable experience.
This iconic dish, crafted with the dedication and pride of Hiroshima’s residents, continues
to win over everyone who tries it.
Now, let’s dive into the irresistible charm of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki—a true culinary
treasure of Hiroshima Prefecture.
