Privacy Policy

Bible Shorts ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent iOS app that helps you read the Bible, reflect, and pray as a daily rhythm. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In plain terms: Bible Shorts has no user accounts, does not track you, does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not sell your data. Almost everything the app stores stays on your device, and you can erase all of it with a single tap.

Information we collect

Personal information. We do not ask you to create an account or sign in, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts. We have no server that stores a profile about you.

Usage and analytics. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not build an advertising profile, and we do not use identifiers for tracking across other apps or websites.

Content you create. Your daily check-ins, reflections, notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, saved short videos, and chat history are stored locally on your device so the app can show your weekly rhythm and pick up where you left off. This content is not uploaded to a server owned by us.

Device permissions

Bible Shorts requests only the permissions its features genuinely need, and each is used for a single purpose:

The app does not request access to your camera, photo library, location, contacts, or health data.

How the AI features work

Two features use a third-party AI provider, Replicate: the spoken reflection response and the prayer text for short videos. These features run only when you trigger them — for example, when you finish speaking a reflection or open the prayer for a short. When triggered, the app sends the relevant text (such as your transcribed reflection and the passage reference) to Replicate over an encrypted HTTPS connection so a response can be generated and returned to you.

The app does not retain a copy of these requests on any server we control, and we do not use them to build a profile of you. Replicate processes the request to generate the response; their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policy, available at https://replicate.com/privacy. If the AI provider is not configured or is unreachable, the app falls back to local, offline responses, and no data leaves your device for that action.

On-device storage and one-tap data wipe

Your app data is saved locally in the app's own storage. You are always in control of it. In Settings → Reset All Data, a single confirmed action erases your check-ins, reading plans, bookmarks, highlights, chat history, saved shorts, and progress from the device. This cannot be undone. Deleting the app from your device also removes this data.

Legal basis and your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information under laws such as the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California). Because Bible Shorts keeps your content on your device and does not maintain user accounts, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app:

Our legal basis for the limited processing described above is your consent and the performance of the app's core features at your request.

Data retention

Local data is kept until you delete it or remove the app. We do not operate a server that retains your content.

Children's privacy

Bible Shorts is rated 4+ and is suitable for a general audience, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

The AI features send requests to Replicate, which may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using those features, you understand that this processing may occur outside your country of residence.

Security

Network requests to the AI provider use encrypted HTTPS connections. Because your content stays on your device and there are no accounts, the most important protection is the security of your own device.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
