The Clothing Swap project serves to bring our local community together in an environmentally-friendly activity that encourages second-hand shopping and reuse habits. People will have the chance to come with friends or family and shop sustainably by bringing clothing items to swap on.
Where: Broadneck High School, in the Front Staff Parking Lot
When: Saturday, April 25th from 9am-12pm
For more information, go to the "Info Flyer" tab at the top of the website.
Textile waste devastates our environment by heavily contributing to greenhouse gases and the pollution of our land and waters. This matters because not only our streams and rivers are being polluted, the production of clothes also takes up large amounts of our freshwater sources—just for them to be discarded often in global landfills or incinerators. And the largest contributor of all this? Fast Fashion.
Other than doing your part in saving clothing that would've otherwise been wasted, all of the proceeds earned from this event will back into funding this project next year for our school's local community. Any remaining funds will go towards to Broadneck's Signature Program, Environmental Literacy, to support projects that support our passion in Environmental Preservation & Stewardship!
There's nothing better than getting a "bang for you buck". By thrifting you can purchase quality clothing that has been gently used at a siginifcantly reduced price. Even better, at our event you can get some of the same name-brand items by trading in piece of clothing you no wear, or by buying each item for $3.00! Most importantly, you're not buying from fast fashion companies who focuses on mass producing low-quality, "trendy" clothing that is ultimately thrown away by the next collection of trends.
