Our students at Bellflower Middle/High School come together through many shared experiences. As Change Agents, we make it a priority to find new ways to unite our students, staffulty, and campus as a whole. At the beginning of the school year, we host P.R.I.D.E. Days in an effort to promote a schoolwide culture of positive behavior as well as motivate individuals to establish goals for the school year. Every morning in our morning announcements we remind students to “Show Buc P.R.I.D.E. all day, everyday!” These characteristics unite our school with the shared goal of creating a fun and safe space for all of our students to enjoy their time and be successful. Our consistency in promoting and advocating unity ensures nobody ever feels left out. Three years ago, our school decided to connect middle and high school activities to unite all six grade levels. We continue to see the benefits of making the connection because the upperclassmen model Buc P.R.I.D.E. for the younger grade levels. All grade levels are encouraged to partake in the events hosted by ASB including the Buc Tailgate, Dude. Be Nice Week, Winter Pajama Bash, holiday events, International Day, dances, spirit days, and more. We always choose spirit days that are easily accessible for all students. We especially love Class Color Wars, which is always our rally day attire. Each class wears its designated color (green, purple, orange, yellow, pink, and blue) and shows off their class spirit. During Homecoming Week, we also host a tie-dye event to unite students with their class advisors. Students bring their own white shirt and go home with a class color shirt. On the day of the rally, advisors and cabinet members for each grade level host a face-painting event to amplify the class color spirit competition. ASB unifies our fellow peers by inviting all grade levels to our on- and off-campus events during school and after school hours. We continue to work hard to make provide common experiences for all Bucs that are designed with their interests and their well-being in mind. In fact, our school motto is Because Unity Creates Success, an acronym for our mascot, the Bucs!
