Our confident, creative, and motivating leaders at Bellflower Middle/High School unite and create positivity around campus through the many opportunities of leadership development offered. The initial training for ASB leaders took place at the Lions Camp in Teresita Pines during the week before the new school year began. We spent three nights at camp to bond with each other and to grow as a team. Students worked together to make meals for the rest of the students. Through small group activities and whole group discussion, we communicated ideas on how to make the new school year the best so far, and planned events for the students for the upcoming months like welcome back week and homecoming. We call ourselves Change Agents because we want to be the change at BMHS that makes a positive difference for our campus.
Our Change Agents also attended the CADA Area E Conference in Pasadena, CA, and we send a delegation to the CASL state conference annually. At the CADA conference, our leaders attended workshops presented by motivational speakers on how to encourage our student body and staffulty to be involved in school activities, how to motivate others, how to create a domino effect on positivity, and more. We also attended the Renaissance Regional Conference in Irvine in December where we learned about recognizing our staffulty and students for their achievements. Another thing we do at BMHS is continue to implement more guest speakers who teach our student body how to find what they are passionate about, make sure they feel motivated, how to be confident, how to lead others into doing the right thing, and more. ASB leaders are the Change Agents on campus. This is an important responsibility for us. We understand that if we model Buc P.R.I.D.E., others will follow.
