BHASKAR ANAND

Bhaskar  Anand, PhD

AKA BA !!!!

Bhaskar Anand is an analytical material scientist with interest and experience in gas-solid and liquid-solid interface engineering. He is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He graduated with a Ph.D. from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, the Republic of Korea. His Ph.D. thesis was titled "Greener synthesis and modification of metal-organic frameworks for adsorptive removal of volatile organic compounds." Hanyang University conferred him the "Best Thesis Award" based on his research and academics.  His research interest includes developing advanced functional porous materials such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), metal oxides (MOs), and their composites for their application at liquid/gas-solid interfaces such as separation/ purification/ conversion. Besides his research, he is passionate about pollution, public health, climate change, and sustainability. In his leisure, he loves writing columns focusing on environmental, climate, and public health issues. Some of these OP-EDs get featured in The Korea Times (Guest Columnist). Moreover, he is also a member of the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC; 2021-2025) and Environmental, Economic, and Social Policy (CEESP; 2021-2025) at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Frosty fables: Seoul's delayed snowfall and our climate's future

Here, I reflected on my views on Seoul's delayed snow in December, which is not just a weather anomaly; it is a wake-up call urging us to confront the reality of climate change. "We must act, and we must act now!"  Click here for more...

Adsorption dynamics of gaseous toluene with and without formaldehyde and water vapors on composites of UiO-66-NH2 and microporous carbon

The utility of a series of carbon-integrated UiO-66-NH2 composites (AC-U6N)  assessed for capturing toluene and formaldehyde.  AC-U6N(1%) exhibits a superior affinity for toluene over formaldehyde adsorption. The competitive adsorption affects mass transfer for each target onto AC-U6N(1%). VOCs adsorption is a rate-limiting step influenced by gas composition and humidity levels. Click here for more...

Recent advances in metal-organic frameworks for real-world application toward adsorptive capturing of gaseous aromatic volatile organic compounds in air

MOFs have been baldly and boldly proposed as a potential adsorbent for air purification. The applicability of MOFs as an adsorbent for capturing aromatic volatile organic compounds were assessed and evaluated. The large-scale application of MOFs for air purification is limited by operational challenges. This evaluation recommended the need advances in modification techniques can help expand MOFs scalability and utility.  Click here for more...

Recent advances in metal-organic frameworks for the removal of volatile organic compounds in gaseous streams

The practical application of MOFs for capturing VOCs from gaseous streams has faced operational challenges, including flow constriction, performance degradation in humid conditions, framework collapse, secondary pollution, low renewability, high initial costs, and limited scalability. Recently, various efforts have been made to overcome the abovementioned challenges, including green synthesis, modification, functionalization, and shaping of MOFs.  This talk aims to enhance understanding of MOF's synthesis, modification, and functionalization to improve their practical suitability for large-scale air purification systems.

An International Conference on Advancement in Functional Materials is supposed to be held at Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) Institute of Physical Sciences for Study and Research, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh 222003 India.
