I am currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Liberal Arts, IIT Jodhpur. Prior to this, I held various roles at IIE Guwahati, IIM Shillong, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, and PRADAN.
I earned my PhD in Social Sciences from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati campus, in 2018. I also hold my first Postgraduate Degree in History from Gauhati University (2008) and second Postgraduate Degree in Rural Development from IGNOU (2011).
I qualified the UGC-NET in Women’s Studies in 2013 and am an accredited International Peace Fellow, recognized by SAP in collaboration with MGM University, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, and the Sabarmati Ashram Trust.
My research interests include the sociology of rural development, appropriate technology, sustainability, livelihoods, tribal studies, migration, and theatre.
Beyond academia, I have published over 100 poems and short stories in Assamese and authored two books on Assamese theatre. As an actor and director, I remain actively engaged in theatre, having participated in five theatre workshops and six international theatre festivals. In recognition of my work, I was felicitated by the Asam Sahitya Sabha (2020) and received the Social Service Award from the Dispur Press Club (2024) for my contributions to rural development.
