Outside of practices, we like to meet at least once a month as a team to go do a team bonding activity. Our Secretary, Sammi Sendral is in charge of using her creative mind to come up with these monthly socials! Some are traditional and some are brand new! Check out some of our recent socials we have done!
As the end of "Spo0ky Season" is crawls upon us, the Falconettes decided to venture to Distracted Haunted House in the Woodland Mall in Bowling Green! Distracted is a highly rated, award winning haunted house attraction. This attraction's duration took about 15 minutes to escape, and we met some creepy new friends along the way. Sophomore Alexa Draye mentions, "The experience was well worth they cost. Around every twist and turn was an amazing and horrifying scare. The final passage was a great ending to an incredible haunted house!" Once we successfully exited the haunted house, we were instantly welcomed with a recovery zone which included a hot chocolate bar, marshmallows, a camp fire, and a photo booth! Senior Keira Mills said, "I loved being able to roast marshmallows with the girls and sip on hot chocolate afterwards, it was a perfect fall night!" To say the least, the haunted house social was a success and our team had a lot of fun getting spooked to start to end the month of October! Stay tuned to see what November's socials will be!
For the last few seasons, the Falconettes have enjoyed participating in a social at a pumpkin patch! This year we decided to switch pumpkin patch locations and venture to Pumpkin Pete's & Gwen's Gourds in Perrysburg Ohio! Freshman Kaitie Oterson stated, "I loved being able to spend more time with the lovely ladies on this team! I especially loved bonding over coffee and the cute animals!" During our time there, we enjoyed walking in a corn kernel pool, petting animals they had like a sheep and a cow, picked out pumpkins, went on a hayride, and tried different coffee's and pizzas they had! Overall, Pumpkin Pete's & Gwen's Gourds had lots of interactive activities throughout our time there and was a beautiful place to visit! Make sure to check out our TikTok of our experience to see some of the fun we had @bgsufalconettesdance.
Our first social with our new team was a trip to the Bowling Green Thrift Event! We had a few girls gather Saturday afternoon to spend time looking at different booths to thrift from! This is known as one of our informal socials! Our Secretary who organized the Social, Sammi Sendral states, "We met at the Alumni Gateway on campus and walked together to the thrift event which was held in the courtyard behind the Eden Fashion Boutique!" The girls shopped and explored the various vendors apart of the event. Afterwards, the girls made a stop across the street to Lola's to get frozen yogurt! They additionally explored local shops in Downtown Bowling Green and concluded the social by walking back to campus! This social was a fun and quick first social for our new season!
Our Dairy Queen Ice Cream social is a traditional social amongst the Falconettes. This social is open to any returning members and new members who are trying out or are interested in trying out! This social is a perfect way to get to know other people trying out and meet the Exec team to ask questions about Falconettes. This year, the Dairy Queen Ice Cream social took place right after our final clinic for the 2023-2024 season with a total of 12 attendees.
Every year, we celebrate the end of our dance seasons with an end of year banquet. We enjoy doing a potluck style banquet! During our banquets we do superlative awards for each teammate and then announce our new Exec Team for the upcoming season! This year, our Secretary planned our final social of the year to be a "Secret Easter Bunny" (Inspired by Secret Santa) and we exchanged Easter baskets with each other and Exec later gave out the annual end of the year team gift which was matching black 'BGSU Falconettes' cropped tank tops! This end of year banquet took place in Kohl Hall, which is a Residence Hall at BGSU's Main Campus.
Our February Social was a movie night! The team voted on a movie for the team to watch and the winner ended up being Hannah Montana The Movie! This movie beat out ELVIS, Minion's: Rise of Gru, Superbad, and Ella's Enchanted. We dressed in comfy movie attire and brought snacks! This was a super relaxed social which was very needed for our team. This social took place in Kohl Hall which is a Residence Hall in BGSU's Main Campus.
This social was the first social of 2023 and with a new Secretary! The Falconettes headed to the Slater Family Ice Arena on BGSU's Main Campus to embark the ice. Fun fact, The Falconettes were originally a figure skating team before changing to a club dance team! Let's just say we all fell at least once throughout this social. This social was different but very enjoyable!
The final social of 2022 before we took a month break for Winter Break was a sock exchange Christmas party! This party was hosted at our Social Media Manager's apartment, where we had hot chocolate and a variety of snacks. We also enjoyed the movie Elf! Each dancer was assigned to get a pair of socks and we exchanged them in a White Elephant style! There may or may not have been times a spesifcic pair of socks was stolen multiple times! This social was perfect to destress ourselves from a busy 1st semester and celebrate as a team!
Every Thanksgiving, we like to have a Friendsgiving social! During this social, we were hosted by one of our Choreographers at her house to have a potluck style Thanksgiving dinner with a variety of different foods! On top of our team meal, we had a presentation night where some members created interesting and fun presentations and presented them to the team! Some included "Mr. Worldwide, I Love You" talking about the iconic singer, Pitbull, "The Common Personal L's of Semester 1," "Rating Super Mario Characters," and "Best Amazon Finds!" These presentations sure did give off many laughs and sure were entertaining! We are excited to continue this traditional social and holiday party!
For the last few years, the Falconettes have enjoyed going to a local pumpkin patch as one of our first socials of the year! We like to go on the hay rides, look at pumpkins that we can eventually take home, try some sweet treats, walk the hay mazes, take pictures, and compare our heights on the iconic "How Tall Are You?" stand! We are very excited to visit the pumpkin patch next fall!
