Contemporary Issues
Contemporary Issues is a dynamic, discussion-based course designed to engage students with the complex and rapidly changing world around them. Students will explore a range of current social, political, economic, environmental, and global issues through critical thinking, research, debate, and collaborative projects. The course emphasizes media literacy, civic responsibility, and respectful dialogue, helping students become informed and active participants in society.
Psychology
This course offers high school students an introduction to the scientific study of behavior and mental process. Students will explore key concepts, theories, and research findings that form the foundation of psychology. Through discussions, experiments, case studies, and interactive activities, students will gain insight into how psychologists study the mind and behavior. The application of psychological principles can be used in everyday life. This course aims to foster critical thinking, enhance understanding of human behavior, and prepare students for further study in psychology.
Sociology
This course offers high school students an introduction to the study of society, social behaviors, and human interactions. Students will explore the fundamental concepts, theories, and methods used by sociologists to understand the social world. Topics covered will include culture, socialization, social institutions, social stratification, race and ethnicity, gender, family, deviance, and social change. Through discussions, projects, case studies, and research activities, students will examine how societies are structured and how individuals’ roles and behaviors are shaped by social forces. **This course aims to develop critical thinking skills, increase awareness of social diversity, and provide students with tools to analyze and understand the complexities of social life.
