# Privacy Policy for Indexia
**Last updated:** February 11, 2026
Indexia ("the App") is a personal inventory management application for Android. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.
## Data Storage
All inventory data — including item details, photos, tags, and category fields — is stored **locally on your device only**. Indexia does not operate any servers and does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on remote systems.
## Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
### Camera
Used to photograph items for your inventory. Photos are stored locally on your device. Photos are only sent to third-party AI services when you explicitly initiate an AI scan (see "Third-Party Services" below).
### Location
Used optionally to retrieve current weather data from OpenWeatherMap for the outfit suggestion feature. Location data is sent to OpenWeatherMap only when you use this feature. Location is never stored permanently or shared with any other party.
### Internet
Used to communicate with third-party AI services (for item scanning) and the OpenWeatherMap API (for weather data). No other network communication occurs.
## Third-Party Services
Indexia integrates with the following third-party services. **You must provide your own API keys** to use these features — the App does not include any pre-configured keys.
### Anthropic Claude API / OpenAI API
When you initiate an AI-powered scan, a photo of your item is sent to the AI provider you have configured (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI) for analysis. The AI provider processes the image and returns structured item data. Please refer to the respective provider's privacy policy:
- Anthropic: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy
- OpenAI: https://openai.com/privacy
### OpenWeatherMap API
When you use the weather-based outfit suggestion feature, your approximate location (latitude and longitude) is sent to OpenWeatherMap to retrieve current weather conditions. Please refer to OpenWeatherMap's privacy policy: https://openweathermap.org/privacy-policy
## API Key Storage
Your API keys are stored on-device using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences with AES-256-GCM encryption. Keys are never transmitted anywhere other than to their respective API endpoints during authorized requests.
## Backup & Restore
The App offers a local backup and restore feature. Backup files are created and stored at a location you choose on your device. Backups are not uploaded to any server. Backup files may contain your inventory data, photos, and API keys.
Encrypted preferences (including API keys) are excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup to prevent issues when restoring to a different device.
## Data Retention & Deletion
Since all data is stored locally, you have full control over your data at all times. You can:
- Delete individual items, photos, and tags within the App
- Use the App's backup feature to export your data
- Uninstall the App to remove all associated data from your device
## Children's Privacy
Indexia is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
## Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
