Approach to Supporting Clients in Mediation

Depending on what stage the client is at, I help clients determine if mediation is appropriate and review with them the benefits of out of court settlements, including mediated settlements and the risks of litigation. I assist clients to:

  • determine what information and documents they need to provide to the other side and what documents and information they need from the other side to make the mediation session productive.

  • make document production demands if necessary, including document production court applications.

  • provide legal opinion on the issues is dispute and prepare mediation brief.

  • attend mediation with the client or be available by phone to provide advice during the mediation.

  • provide independent legal advice on mediated terms of agreement prior to signatures.

  • reduce mediated terms of agreement into a written agreement (marriage, cohabitation, separation, co-parenting, and donor agreements)

Cultural Diversity Experience

I have extensive experience dealing with people of diverse backgrounds (clients, opposing parties and counsel) through negotiations, litigation, mediation, arbitration and collaborative divorce practice.
