Approach to Providing Unbundled Legal Services:
I am a Designated Paralegal at Jiwa Law Corporation where I provide unbundled services to clients who are unable to provide full representation. Determining the type of service to provide is dependent on the client's current situation and what they require. Sometimes, I am only retained to assist the client in the preparation of an application by drafting their affidavits, application response and conducting case law research. Other times, I assist the client navigate the court system and advise what they can expect to occur next on their file or how to interpret court Orders that were pronounced. I also assist clients creating parenting schedules that are appropriate for their situation or performing divorcemate calculations that they can then discusses with their spouses. Other unbundled services I provide are drafting agreements and uncontested divorces for parties that have spouses who live in B.C. or outside B.C. I lower the cost of this service if the party is able to serve the opposing party themselves.
Mediation: I do not have mediation training and do not practice family mediation.

Cultural Diversity Experience:
I have dealt with clients from varying cultural backgrounds. For instance, as I am half Fijian half Canadian, I am able to connect and understand Punjabi or Hindu clients who come from a different cultural background. These types of divorces are more complex as these families typically live in one household where the funds are pooled. As well, these cultures often gift jewelry during their wedding ceremonies which is often a point of contention. I also deal with Iranian clients through legal aid. These types of clients enter into a type of marriage agreement at the time of marriage which describes the payment that must be provided from the man to the women in the event of separation. There claims also involve a Mehri and the balancing of assets that are within and outside of Canada.
