Approach to Providing Unbundled Legal Services:
Our view is that family law is a complex area of law, even for family lawyers who have been practicing for years. The lay litigant is entitled to access to legal services through means which are affordable to them, and often this means they will not be able to afford the services of a lawyer from the beginning of the file to the end. Given the lack of legal resources and assistance available to those parties who do not qualify for legal assistance available to those parties who do not qualify for legal aid assistance, or pro bono services, we have come to feel that it is important to offer our services in a more varied way, to assist with the backlog that exists in family law. We explain our services to the client at the outset then help them in selecting the assistance which is right for them. We are often consulted at the beginning, in the midst of or just before matters conclude, and we try to accommodate all situations with flexibility and creativity.
Mediation:
I have family mediation training and practice family mediation as counsel and mediator.
I have acted as counsel in 21-30 family mediations in the last 5 years.
I have acted as mediator in less than 5 family mediations in the last 5 years.
Approach to Supporting Clients in Mediation:
Similar to my approach to providing unbundled legal services (above), however, as a mediator we approach the matter on an unbiased and neutral matter, but provide scenarios where the parties would know where they might be exposed legally in certain areas.
Cultural Diversity Experience:
