Approach to Providing Unbundled Legal Services:
For initial consultations, I assess the client’s situation and legal issues, then provide a roadmap or list of available options. I also outline next steps, whether they choose to proceed with me or not. For independent legal advice, I thoroughly review the document, explain potential legal consequences (or knock-on effects), offer specific advice, and ensure the client understands all risks and benefits. For a one-time court appearance, I review all relevant materials, explain what to expect, and after the appearance, I make sure to address any outstanding matters or questions with the client.
Mediation: I do not have family mediation training and do not practice family mediation.
Approach to Supporting Clients in Mediation:

Cultural Diversity Experience:
I worked as parent's counsel for Legal Aid where the clients are primarily marginalized people of colour, and predominantly Indigenous. I previously worked as a research assistant at my law faculty focused on equity, diversity and inclusion. I have worked with adults with disabilities and have some familiarity with ASL (but would not provide legal advice or translation in it). In the past I volunteered teaching English to immigrants.
